Furnace comes on but so does roof AC

Hello , I am still learning systems on our 2014 Sundance XLT 245RL that we purchased in the fall . Yesterday while hooked to shore power I decided to check to see if the furnace works . Opened one propane tank valve and set the thermostat to furnace low . It doesn't have a furnace high setting . Anyway after a few seconds the furnace came on but so did the roof AC . It was 68 degrees outside and I set the thermostat at about 75 to make sure the furnace came on .

It only took about 30 seconds for heat to come out of the floor/wall registers . The roof unit stayed on . It didn't sound or feel like the AC compressor was coming on so maybe just the fan came on ? Is it possible the roof AC fan is wired to come on in furnace mode ? Being a 30 amp camper I wouldn't think it has electric heat strips but I don't know that for sure . I ran it for 5 minutes and didn't feel any heat coming out of the ceiling AC vents . A few weeks ago during g a warm spell I did run the AC and it cooled fine . Our maiden camping trip is April 14 - 16 and just trying to be prepared . Any advice on the furnace/roof fan coming on is appreciated .

It sounds like your thermostat is set to either high or low fan. In your case it sounds like low. It must be set to auto or the AC fan will run during furnace operation.

Peace

Follow up : Dave you were 100 % correct ! I went through the " mode " menu on the thermostat and the fan was set to low . Toggled the up arrow until auto showed up . I tried the furnace again and voila the furnace came on and the AC fan did not . Thanks again for the tip , I am already liking this forum 😁
