Ishpeming, MI. This is iron country. We went on mine tours and to museums. It is a very interesting area. We also went to Shipwreck museum at Whitefish Point. In Munising, MI we took a glass bottom boat tour where we could view old shipwrecks below thru the glass bottom. We stayed at http://www.countryvillagervpark.com/ This is a very friendly park, clean and nice big sites.
St. Ignace, MI. This is near the Mackinac Bridge and Mackinac Island. We stayed at http://www.lakeshoreparkcampground.com/ This park is located along Lake Michigan on the Straits of Mackinac. The campground is sloped so most all sites have a view of the lake.
Sault Ste Marie, MI. We stayed at http://www.sault-sainte-marie.mi.us/Parks/Aune_Osborn.html This park is located on the St. Mary’s River. The ships pass so close to the campground on their way to the Soo Locks. The ships are so quiet as they pass and at night almost look ghostly. We enjoyed seeing the ships so close-up and going down to the locks was so interesting. The only drawback to this campground is NO sewer hoop-ups - you must use the dump station there.
Ontonagon, MI. We are staying at http://www.riverpinesrv.com/Welcome.html This park is just across the road from the Ontonagon River. A very clean campground and the owner tries very hard to make your stay pleasant. It is about 10 miles from the Porcupine Mountains. We enjoy going there and walk on the shore of Lake Superior looking for agates……..also our Lab Ebbie loves to swim.
