Good luck with this question. I had the same idea and haven't reallly gotten a good answer (or at least one I could hang my hat on). I have been told it will void your warranty if you do this. Then I have been told that it shouldn't cause a problem even though it will void your warranty. And lastly I have been told, don't do it under any circumstances. I was told by someone at Heartland that it will void the warranty, but that a lot of people have done it without a problem.
In other words you will find it difficult to get a straight answer. After chasing it around for awhile, I gave up and just decided to pack smarter. I'm to chicken about doing something that would void my frame warranty.
