We are brand new owners of a 2013 Landmark Mesa. Here is the story of how we got here:
It all started in April of this year when I just got home from a two week vacation visiting family back East. When I returned, my boss called me into his office and told me, much to my surprise, that I was no longer needed at Shutterfly.
Barbara and I were pretty devastated by this news, but I started, as I usually do, to get by networking back in shape and looking for another job. My interviews took me to places like Ann Arbor, Seattle, Jacksonville, New York, New Jersey, the Bay Area and the list goes on and on. After two long months of this, I realized that I just didn't want to do this anymore. I had played the corporate game for 35 years and that was all I could take.*
So we talked and investigated and talked some more. How many people do you know who have confessed "I wish I could just pack it all in and travel around the country"? Well, we have said that to ourselves many times, but never could get the courage up to face that uncertain future. I guess you could say that some of our big excuses for not doing it had disappeared all of the sudden. I had no job to give up and we needed to sell our condo anyway because we could no longer afford the mortgage without a big paycheck.
On July 4th we decided to make that day our own "Independence Day". We committed to becoming full-time RVers. Our condo sold in less than a week and our move out date was set for 7/31 so we had to shift into high gear with less than a month to sell almost everything we own, buy an RV, buy a truck to haul it and find a place to park it. So far we have sold the SUV and bought a huge pickup truck, bought the RV, found a place to park it for the first month and started selling almost everything in our condo.
