Landing Gear Motor(electric) Removal

Anyone ever removed their electric motor for landing gear legs on a 5th wheel, if so did you block up the frame? I'm wondering if there's some type on internal brake/locking device to prevent the camper from dropping.

I have ALWAYS used jackstands on both sides frame I-beams when working on the landing gear systems.

My church online prayer group called for memorial prayers recently for a young dad who was working under a boat that fell on him.

Another method can be hooking the rig to the truck. I have helped some friends, and we used wooden blocks and parked the truck under the hitch but not hooked up.
