Loud squealing noise when running slide out in or out

I am new to the Heartland owners forum and I am looking forward to using this as a new resource to connect and learn.

We just purchased a 2014 Torque TQ 290 TT toy hauler and are really enjoying it. However....I am having a problem with a loud metal on metal squealing when running the slide room in or out. I initially went under the room while I had my wife move the slide in and out. There was not anything obviously rubbing. I sprayed all the rails and gears with silicone spray, it did not seam to make a difference. Any suggestions?
It is never good after pulling up at the campsite to setup and when I start letting the slide room out my neighbors come out to see what is making all the horrible racket.

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

Hi spikedog,

Welcome to the Heartland family and forum.

Hopefully another Torque owner or someone that has had the same noise will jump in with help soon.

Enjoy the forum and let us know what you find.

We have a 2013 cyclone purchase 09-01-2012..We had the same squalling sound told us just new, then cold outsides, just new, Well they finally started stopping while coming in and you would have to start again unti all in...Told us battery, no, rly switch no, pump no...... NOW they are saying the sides are bent, Bruce said thinks shafts maybe to small for the slides......Dont want to get started on the water leaks etc. Good luckl

Rcpj, I have a couple of questions.
Who are "they" and who is Bruce?
I doubt that the slides are bent.
It sounds like the breaker for the hydraulics is weak and needs to be replaced.
I'ts an easy fix and the part is around $10.
Reply here if you need help locating that breaker and the installation.

Peace
Dave

Spikedog: we had the same sound...metal-on-metal!! Took some "heavy duty slide out dry lube/protectant" made specifically for RVs and sprayed liberally in and around the gear rails and in the gear connection area. Was told NOT TO spray anything on the stainless steel rods (hydraulic actuators/cylinder rams)!! Then brought slides in/out several times...spraying each time and letting the spray "penetrate" (doing the spraying twice total over a period of about 15 minutes). It worked...also, it really cleaned up the rails:)
Hope this helps.

rcpj: our slides would stop going in/going out...we'd wait a few seconds and try again...they would go in/out but would stop again!!! It turned out it was the circuit breaker for the slides...overheating and then being allowed to cool for a few seconds, overheating, etc...circuit beakers get weak over time and need to be replaced...$10 fix:) Some friends had the same problem. When the circuit breaker was replaced their slides worked just fine after.
Don't know if this is the situation but you may want to try this fix.

OKAY WE NOW KNOW what is wrong with that loud squalling noise is... The slides or rams are bent.... long story short Route 66 covered them it is all done.....but the slides FLEX and that is not covered cause is goes under the frame.... SO got a lemon.....NO MORE SQualling when slides are used....Wish the went a little further and not put if off as new..... now we bring it home and let it sit.......until it rots I guess.... if used to much it will break...... This is a update...

Hydraulic slides never go in or out all at the same time.
If the slides are stopping before they get in or out and you have to wait a minute to continue, then it sounds like the 50 amp breaker for the hydraulic pump needs to be replaced.
I'm not quite sure I understand your slide problem.

Dave, The curbside slide stops about halfway, I let off the switch and engage again it moves, then all slides move completely out. Is it the breaker? The pump is still running just nothing is moving.
