new Pioneer camper with ventline? fan in bathroom, seal for the lid seems to be hard and leaks.

Hi,
nearly brand new camper, and I noticed my bathroom vent is leaking a little during hard rains. I tried tightening the knob that lowers the lid to seal it better, and still some tiny drops get by time to time. I then noticed the vynyl seal was kind of hard, not soft and squishy like i would think you would want to compress a bit to seal good. I see a new ventline seal kit on amazon for about 9 bucks.

I know i can take it in for work, but at 9 bucks, i just assume save the fuel and do this myself. however, if the new seal is also hard like the original one it may not solve anything.

anyone else had a similar issue, maybe my seal was old stock or something? maybe instead of the original seal there may be something better?
Thanks,
Mark

new seal is softer, but its still lacking in efficiency and it will get dry and hard rather quickly (less than a year).... get some self adhesive bulb seal, and attach it to the under side of the vent cover/lid.... it will make a positive and better seal for a longer time...

I prefer the self adhesive bulb seal with the red protective film over the adhesive, as it will always hold well if the surface is clean when its installed.

Put a MaxxAir cover over it and you won’t need to worry about it even if the vent is open when it rains.

No, the cover has four brackets actually attach to the vertical metal side frame of the Ventline opening. Requires drilling four #8 holes to bolt the brackets to. Look for the one with the hinged brackets, makes it easy to lift and clean under it. No need to caulk it or drill the roof.

Here's the instructions for mounting them. https://www.airxcel.com/docs/defaul...ion-sheet-rev-b-12-2015.pdf?sfvrsn=9e8006b_10

a great suggestion and a very easy install.....

then, the only reason a new seal would be needed is to keep the heat from escaping around to old seal during cold weather.

Great, my dads camper came with the max aire vent cover installed, and i decided I didn't need one since our vent had a screen in it. Now I see that may have been premature, lol. I may install one after all since it keeps out the rain also.
thanks,
Mark.
