I have no brakes on my Big Country Fifth Wheel, every now and then they will catch but when I take an ohm reading on the wire going back to the brakes from the front i get almost 0 ohms indication a short are grounded wire. any sugestions???
Many times the insulation on the wire that goes through the axle will wear off and short out. This will cause the brakes to fail. Solution is to run a new wire on the outside of the axle.
You will need to isolate each brake magnet and check for a short.
That way you will know exactly which one needs replacing.
To replace the magnet you will have to remove the brake drum/hub.
An easy fix once you know which one it is.
