Gang:
While sitting around waiting for my new tires, I was reading a copy of Motorhome magazine, and noted a blurb about a new ambient low temperature upgrade kit available for certain Norcold Refrigerators. This is supposed to improve operation with outside temperatures below 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
I did a websearch, but did not immediately see a posting by Norcold - I did find this link from RV-Pro.com:

There is an optional orfis for the burner that is used at hight altitude. It may work for this as well or perhaps it has it and should not?

Mike, the ambient temp control is basically a switch that keeps the inside fridge light on while the door is closed when the outside temperature is cooler. Say 50 degrees or lower. The intent being to keep the fridge from freezing the contents.
The orifice for the burner wouldn't affect the fridge temperature only the burner flame because of the effect of altitude on the LP pressure.

From another forum. The Norcold kit (part #634913)

Here is a (not great) picture of the Cold Weather Kit.
Simply a Fuse, stick on heater (~20 Watts at 12 volts DC) element and a thermal switch so the unit won't run when it is warm

I am very interested in this. I am told the parts are about $90.00 (seems high for what you are showing). Is this something that a guy with good mechanical skills can install?
