Pull-right Super Glide Hitch

Does anyone else with this particular hitch have problems getting the hitch to release when pulling the handle up and out?

Thanks,

I had one and had the same problem. The cure is to back the truck up with the trailer brakes held on or back against the trailer once the wheels are chocked. It will take the tension off the kingpin. Never had a problem unhitching if I did this...Don

Sometimes.. If I do, after chocking the wheels and lowering the landing gear to remove the trailer's weight from the hitch, I only need to hop in the truck, release the parking brake, place tranny in neutral, then put it back in park, set the brake, hop out and pull on the handle. That's just enough to release any tension on the jaw around the pin.

Thanks, my was thinking that tension might be the problem. I will have to keep this in mind next time we unhook.

I had problems until the factory rep came to the rescue. Found out that I was high pinning the hitching and un-hitching process - learned this from the dealer. When unhitching, back up to relieve the pressure on the king pin. With all the wieght on the truck, but the front legs almost touching the ground, pull the release pin. The hitch should release and you are ready to unhitch.

Thanks for the advice, we will definitely keep this in mind next time we unhitch.

We tried backing up slightly after we had the front landing gear down. Worked like a charm! Thanks!
