PUNKIN CHUNKIN - Bridgeville Delaware

After 5 years of my daughter buggin me about going out and watching the 3 day Punkin Chunkin event, I think we might try to head out there next October. If your not familiar with Punkin Chunkin, it airs on the Science Channel every year. Crazy people shooting 10lb pumpkins almost a mile in distance. (4694' world record) She not only wants to go, she wants to go out and compete in the youth devision. She is in the process of designing and building a Trebuchet catapult as a winter project.

Anyways, anyone know of a nice campground near Bridgeville Delaware.

I don't think Yogi Bears Delaware Beaches will be all that far away from Bridgeville. It is one of the nicer private CG in DE. They also have a great state park system so check those out too. We camped at Killens Pond on a campout. Let us know because I would love to see it!

You got that right Deb! I will not go anywhere I can't take the troublemakers! By the way, Romeo is looking for a delicious hand snack. :)

Unlike many that started camping with kids, pets are why we started the RV thing

So there ought to be a campground nearby.

This is not a campground!! It is a section of field that they allow camping in. I'm sure their first concern was not thinking about pets. Maybe there was an issue before were dogs were not being leashed or overaggressive dogs were getting out, not sure. Anyways, that is why we are looking for a place to stay that is more Campground oriented.

On crazy note, the camping area there is located 2500 feet from the firing line of the Trebuchets. This is always been 500 feet further than anyone has ever fired a pumpkin before, until last year when someone set a record in that division and fired one into the camping area. I'm sure the camping area will be a little further away next year.
