Razor 2650TT

Hello All,

I am new to the RVing world. I have a razor 2650tt as well (2009) and I had a question about my charging system. From what they explained to me, I have a battery that provides 12volt power to all the things requiring 12volts and a the onboard generator for obvious reasons. does my generator recharge my battery? My LP alarm kept going off but there was no smell of LP in the trailer, i checked all appliances and everything was turned off. I after reading other posts, it seems as though that alarm could trip if the battery gets low. Just wondering if i need to hook up trickly charger to that battery or if the generator will recharge it. I just got this so I have a warranty if I need to take it back.

Thanks a bunch and I am loving the site and my hauler, plan on taking it out this weekend.

Welcome to the forum Paul.
Yes a low battery will cause the alarm to sound.
I do not use a generator so I can't help you with that.
Your battery charge will not last a long time if you are using 12 volt items. Maybe overnight. Longer if you are careful with usage.
Someone with a genny will most likely have an answer for you.

Peace

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the Heartland Owners Forum. It sounds like you've already discovered that there's a lot of useful information here, as well as a lot of friendly people who are willing to share their knowledge and experience.

The battery gets recharged by the Power Converter which takes 110V AC current and converts it to 12V DC. Any time you're plugged into shore power, the Converter should be charging your battery. If your on-board generator powers the entire trailer as an alternative to shore power, then it should be powering the power converter and charging the battery when using the generator.

It sounds like maybe the trailer has been sitting in storage, and the battery charge is low. So maybe that's why the detector went off. But if your generator has an electric start, the low battery might not have enough charge left to start the generator. You might be able to recharge the battery enough to start the generator by hooking up to your truck and running the truck at a high idle for 15 minutes. Then the generator should provide AC to the Power Converter to charge the battery.

Given that 2009 trailers may have been built in mid-2008, the CO detector may also be reaching end of life (normally about 5 years). It might be time to replace it.

Also, a "sniff" test to detect propane leak might not be 100% reliable. Make sure the LP tanks are shut off and if you really want to be sure, move them away from the trailer and see if the alarm stops.
