Hi everyone,
Even with 303 on the seals on the top of the slides they are falling apart. Has anyone replaced these? appreciate any tips on how to replace.
thanks

These are very easy to replace. They just have a retainer screw and washer at each end and then just slide out/in the slots like a squeegee blade. I improved the end screw setup by using a flat mending plate instead of just a washer under the retainer screws. The washer tends to pull through the rubber.
Call Heartland service (have your VIN) to get the part or check on the internet. You may need some measurements and a profile of the seal.

Here is a flat mending plate: mending plate.jpg

My off side slide bottom gasket is currently hanging in the center and I'm going to have to re-insert it into the guide, I'm going to use your mending plate idea, my screws don't have washers and if I don't do something I'm going to be in trouble. I don't know why it came out in the first place but temps were so cold when we left and it could have been frozen stiff. On the frame side they have two short strips covering the end of the frame gasket on each side the front one had torn so that has to be replaced but will wait until we get home. Not happen with that set up but once I take it apart I will be able to see if I can improve the set up.

Well, well....came on to post a question about the top "D" seal and low and behold someone with the same problem. I just called Heartland this morning for ANOTHER replacement seal. We had to replace seals on the entertainment slide out and living room slide out two years ago, now the living room slide out is in need of replacement again. They seem to be not lasting for some reason. We spent last summer up in WA on the coast so it's not the heat getting to the seals. As with the last time, two years ago the seals are just falling apart and are sticky to the touch. I tend to think there is a problem with the seal material if it won't last much past a couple years.

Just under $3 a foot, so just under $39 for the living room slide, HL did not say who is paying shipping but I can guess it won't be them.

I just had to replace all of the slide seals on our unit. a word of caution when ordering (even if you have your vin) there are several different size "D" seals, ask me how I know. On some of the applications it does not matter if you get the bigger seal, however I found that we had to have a smaller seal under the bedroom slide and had to re-order.

Do you seal the top of the "D" seal with self leveling caulking? It looks like the rig came from the factory with a very small bead of caulinking, we'll be heading into the rainy country of Westeren WA here in a few days.

Update--the slide project went ok--here are a few things I learned. The original "D" channel had caulking on the top and in order to slide out the old "D" I had to cut the caulk off. It then slid right out. To install the new one (after I gave it quite a bit of 303), I put a small amount of lube on the edge and slowly slid it on--I found if you started to slide it on too fast it would jump out of the groves. After they were installed I did recaulk with Sikaflex.

Thanks Al, on our rig I did not have to do anything to get the seal off, most was melted and pulled right off, the top had a VERY small bead of caulking that's why I was wondering if caulking was necessary. But better safe than sorry, so will re-caulk.
