Rim size for spare tires? I'm understanding it has to be a solid rim because of the 100 lb psi.?

Your spare tire rim can be either steel or alluminum as long as the rim is capable of handling the required air pressure.
Since our spares are usually mounted out of sight i think manufacturers opt to use a lower cost steel rim for the spare.
The spare size should be the same as what is on your axles now.
