Last season our Samsung HT-C550 DVR/Audio control unit went sideways on us. One day we came home to find the radio, which we had left on, was BLASTING at the highest volume. I know the dogs didn't mess with the controls, so we just quit leaving it on if we were not there. Then the unit started displaying PROT any time we turned it on.
This unit controls the surround sound to the rig, as well as operating as a DVD player and master control for any aux features. DH did research and mostly was led to believe that the unit might be responding to a wiring problem in the speakers. So we brought the unit in the house and tested it. It still goes to protection mode.
Interestingly, we can't find anyone (yet) who is interested in trouble-shooting/repairing the unit. We could drive the rig to our dealer, but that would be a last resort. Currently waiting on call-backs from Heartland and Best Buy. Any ideas? Thanks!
