San Francisco Bay Area to Crested Butte Colorado

We are looking to plan a longer trip to Colorado next fall. Hoping to get to Crested Butte in time to see fall color without getting into snow! We want a trip that will take us through some more national parks (have already done the Colorado Plateau). We can be out on the road 5-6 weeks. We hope to find some resources for route planning for this trip. Thanks in advance to the community!
