Several question on the 4100 ?

In the compartment where you hook up the water what is the setting labeled Normal for i know what the other two do . Also please explain what the 3 connections for cable hook ups are and when to use each one ? And last one for now how do you make sure there is water in the hot water tank before you turn it on and how do you even turn it on ? I know these are dumb Questions but i never got a walk thru. Oh yea one more how do you turn the outside speakers OFF ?

Hello LinemanJim.
Normal position is when your not using city water hook up. Your using your fresh water tank. Once in normal position you turn your water pump on. It'll run for a few seconds till the air is out of the system and when your faucets or toilet are in use.
Now your hot water tank, with water in your your fresh water tank, or hooked up to city water, open one of your hot faucets till you get a continous flow of water and all the air is out then close it. Double check with another hot water faucet that you do have a contnious flow of water then close it. Your hot water tank is full and now you can turn on the water Electric if you have full hook up the other one for propane.

Outside speakers is adjusted using the audio button. Look for "fader" and make your adjustments how much volume between the inside and outside you want. Play with it. Youll get the idea.

Now the cables. Can't help you with that since I've never has to use them. I have satilite tv.

Hi LinemanJim,

If the water heater is in the winterizing bypass mode, opening the hot water faucets won't tell you anything because cold water is routed to the hot lines when in bypass mode.

If you're positive that the water heater is not in bypass mode, then opening the hot faucets will be a good indicator. If you're not sure about the bypass, open the temperature/pressure relief valve on the outside of the water heater. When it's full, water will come out. For this to work, you'll have to have water flow, either from city water, or from the fresh tank, with pump running. Be careful when operating the relief valve. If there's hot water in the tank, you could be scalded.

If the water heater is a Suburban unit, there are 2 switches for the electric operation. The main switch is an illuminated switch in the control panel. The secondary switch is a small black rocker switch in the lower left corner on the outside of the water heater.

I'm happy to see you post this Dan. I hate the air in the lines while trying to purge the hot water heater. I always use the hot water pressure valve when I'm filling the tank or connecting to city water. Reduces the "spitting" all over you sink. It also insures the tank is full before the hot water heater is turned on. (That last one is speaking from experience) 😖

On the inside of the compartment door you may have a instruction and illustration sticker. If so it may be generic and not specific to your unit. (we had ours for a year before I realized this sheet was there LOL). I concur with others on using the relief valve on top of the water heater. As far as the speakers go we have a 3010 not a 4100, but on ours the speaker controls are above the audio system. Hope this helps.

Yes, make sure the water heater is full before turning on the water heater. The electric element burns in SECONDS. Fortunately it's cheap and easy to replace.

LinemanJim; I believe most of your answers are below, and they are ALL correct. As far as the cable, I have 3 on my 4200 - the two to the far right that are side by side are for satilite, the one to your far left - rubber cap on it will be for cable.
