Towing behind 5th Wheel

Hi, we just recently purchase a 2017 Heartland Bighorn 3010. It has a hitch mounted on the rear frame for towing, however I do not see any exposed wires. How are you guys wiring up for towing a utility trailer behind? Is there a way to access wires without disturbing the skid plate.

What size is the hitch receiver on your new coach? During that period the factory had an option to have a 1 1/4" hitch receiver installed, but that is in no way sufficient to support towing any type of utility trailer. "Skid Plate"? Where is your "skid plate" located?

could be a hitch for a rack not for towing anything

Its a bike rack hitch only. It is not strong enough for a utility trailer..hence no wiring .

Great, Thank you. I will check the actual size of the receiver hitch. The "Skid plate" I am calling the liner to protect dirt and weather from getting to the under carriage. I prefer to keep it sealed and not have to tear into it to run wires.

the liner "Skid Plate" as you called it is referred to as chloroplast. Kinda looks like corrugated cardboard painted black.

FYI, towing behind a fifth wheel in some states is not legal. What is it you are thinking of towing? If you look at the reciver on your big horn, I would bet it was bolted on. If so it is a class 1 1.25" lippert unit for bikes only.

Thank you. I will double check how it is mounted along with the size once the weather breaks and I can climb underneath it again.
