water leak

Our question for the factory is: We apparently have a leak in the couch/table slide of our 2006 3500 RL Bighorn. After a very heavy rain last night, early this AM (3:30 AM on 5/9/06). We lost power at the house and to make coffee I went to the trailer at 6:30 AM. Since it rained so hard in a short time period, decided to check for water leaks. From about the middle of the large window by table over to behind the couch (approx. 3'). A couple different spots in this section were very wet. No noticeable wet on the wall or in the window area. No breaches in the area on top of slide we noted. The other area is at the aft end of slide, in approx 15". Also wet in front of the bottom molding at the aft end of slide. The bottom end of molding is swelled from apparent past leak in this area. Since we have had possession of coach (Aug 19, 2005-present) have noticed no wet area until now. Could a time to be scheduled for factory to look at while we are in the area for the rally. June 7 or 8 would work great for us as we were planning a couple days in Michigan before returning home. No other wet areas were noted.
Otherwise we are very happy with the unit.

Regarding your wet wall - Here are the areas to check if you don't see any obvious breaches in the slide-out wiper seals:
1. Are the windows completely shut? Believe it or not, this is the number one cause of water infiltration in a coach. Especially when the window are hard to slide all the way shut - they often don't get over the finlal quarter to half inch to completely seal against hard rains.
2. Check the exterior silicone seal which runs across the top and about 3-6" down the sides of the windows. If this caulking has shrunk a little, it could have caused gaps which would let the rain in.
3. That would leave the slide-out seals - but if they are going to allow water in anywhere - it most often in the corners - not in the middle of the room.

Thank you Scott. I called Jim at Heartland and explained the situation and he refered me to Charger Enterprises. To make a long story short he has scheduled us for the 7th of June to take a look at it. Really appreciate your prompt reply.
