1. Check the debris filter on the inlet side of the pump, mine was partially clogged with plastic bits, apparently at the factory there is debris getting into the fresh tank when drilling the holes for the lines into the tank and eventually it gets drawn into the pump filter. At least the filter is there and doing its job, thankfully.
2. Check the inlet side fitting on the pump/filter and tighten it by hand as much as you can, air can get sucked in here, too.
3. There is a pressure switch adjustment screw on the end of the pump (center) turn it clockwise and the pump will try to put more pressure into the lines. I was able to reduce but not eliminate the pulsing by turning in that adjustment screw.
To finally eliminate the annoying pulsing on my Edge water system when using the fresh tank and pump I did two more things:
- Bought an small Surflo accumulator tank and installed it in the cold lines behind the hot water heater using flexible lines from Home Depot. This expands when the pump runs to hold about a half liter of water under 30 PSI or more pressure then it lets water out when you turn on a faucet making the pump work less. It also helps keep the hot water heater pressure relief valve from operating, similar to the accumulator tank required in most places on home water systems these days.
- In my Edge the pump was in a compartment under the bed, it had 1/2" PEX with 4 hard 90 degree PEX fittings before it started the long run below the floor of the camper to the hot water heater compartment and rear bathroom. Those 1/2" pex hard 90s are very restrictive and kill the flow and pressure in particular when there are too many 90s in line. In my Edge to get from the pump to the kitchen sink takes 8 hard 90s, no wonder it pulsed like crazy!
I eliminated them all from the pump to the long line under the floor and replaced with a length of Shark Bite Cross-Linked tubing and several of the radius 90 degree turn forming metals that work with the cross-linked tubing to make nice neat gradual 90 degree turns with the cross-linked tubing , I transitioned between the PEX and the shark bite tubing using Shark Bite connectors, as this was cheaper than investing in a compression fitting tool and compression connectors given the small size of the job.
These two together were not a cheap fix, it was $ 100 parts and about 2 hours of my labor to resolve this. But it is so nice to be able use the sinks and shower without that darn pulsing.
