Weight of Hitch?

I am new to RVing and just bought my TV, a 2012 Ford F-350 6.7 SWD with the 5th wheel package from the factory already installed in the bed. Ford sells a 5th wheel hitch kit MSRP $1,695.00. It appears to be a Reese which I have seen on the web at around $1,295.00. I have also seen discussions in this forum about the Hensley TS3 air hitch. My question is how heavy is the TS3? I will be removing the hitch when not traveling. I am handicapped and travel alone and not able to lift heavy weight. also what is the price of the TS3, I think it is around $2,500? Thank you in advance for help.

I doubt you will be able to remove the TS3 alone. At least not without the help of some kind of hoist, these things are heavy heavy but worth it.

The hitch Ford tried to sell me was the 25k Reese. I had no need for a hitch that large. I already have a 24k SuperGlide and (pardon my french) that S.O.B is ridiculously heavy plus my trailer weighs right at 14k so the 18k hitch was fine.
It is also very easy to remove since the head separates from the base. Pull 6 pins and it is ready to come out. The hitch weighs about 130lbs together or 50lbs for the head and 80 for the base.
I found it at 4wheelparts for under a $1000.

Yeah the TS3 is very heavy, and does not come apart. Which is why I just bought a BD3. It's lighter, and breaks into two pieces which are easily removed. It's $400 cheaper than the TS3, and according to the guy at Hensley, just like the TS3 it's way underrated. The only exception to this is the pin weight. The TS3 is rated at 4500 lbs and the BD3 is rated at 3,500 lbs. He said if you go much over these numbers the airbags can't handle it.

For anything Heartland makes that is not a toy hauler, this should be plenty, unless you *really* load that thing up with heavy stuff.
