We're now owners... 2015 Elkridge Extreme Light E30

Most of my posting about my own stuff has been in the Prospective Owners section, but since we signed the paperwork on Tuesday I guess we own it now, lol...

We purchased the 2015 Elkridge Extreme Light E30, from a dealer that was about 100 miles away who happened to have it on the lot for a little under a month. During the PDI I found a few issues and didn't take delivery on the day we purchased it, but just heard about 30 minutes ago that it is now repaired and they are awaiting a few small warranty items to be shipped out and will get back to me on how they plan on handling some of the "small" items (i.e. replacement cabinet door, replacement refer cover, replacement screen that was missing from the rear window). They said they want to have me get my coach, but I told them I was not interested in driving the coach back down for a 200 mile round trip when all they had to do for those items is turn 4 screws to install the cabinet door and they agreed and are talking it over and will get back to me on what they want to do. I asked them to just fwd the parts to me when they got in and i'd install them, he seemed hesitant to do that, but I guess we'll see.

Anyhow long story short, we own a new 5th wheel and will be getting it home soon...

Here are a few pics that I took when we first showed up for the PDI and they were still washing it to get it ready for delivery.

The new cabinet door will be custom made in response to the dealer order - they're not stocked. So it can take several weeks for that to arrive. The hole for the knob will probably have to be drilled, and depending on the hinge, there may be associated parts to mount the hinge to the door. Sometimes there are plastic inserts that are not re-usable from the old door.

The choice may come down to waiting a while, or some arrangement on the 200 mile trip.

Wow, really??? I would have thought they were not custom made for each coach, but if that is the case the dealership already said they would cover my fuel if I had to bring it back, but we we're both in agreement that it would cost them more to cover my fuel than it would be to collect the warranty service time on the install. However, they have yet to get back with me on what they want me to do, or if they want me to drive down there today and get it. So we'll see what happens as the day progresses.

Ok so I guess I figured out that I don't have to go down to get it. As I was making dinner on the grill on our deck and what happens to pull up in front of my house????

My 4yr old wondered why he was driving away...

See he came back to try from the other direction.

Congrats! Welcome to Heartland ownership from all of the Oregon Club members.

Right now our chapter of the club is having a rally at The Mill Casino and RV Park in North Bed / Coos Bay. We have 25 rigs for this rally with 49 people and will be here through Sun after breakfast. Come on over just to say Hi if you can. We are based in sites 25/26 in the park. There will be people around all day tomorrow though lots are going on a boat tour for a couple of hours at noon. Just knock on any Heartland Owner's door and they will be happy to bring you in to the group and let you know what is going on.

Again, welcome!

I just realized those links to the videos didn't show up well when added from my phone so I fixed them. We did a little test camping Saturday night, and our 4 year old fell out of the bunk when trying to climb down in the morning and woke the 1 year old up, so we had an early wake up call, but other than that all systems checked out.

John:
Congratulations on your new Elkridge! We also bought ours from Guaranty. I am even more impressed that they delivered yours to the Portland area. I see you have "tons of mods planned". If you want any suggestions, send me a PM.

Thanks Mel,

I will send a PM about suggestions, but my initial plans are for long distance travel reliability and comfort before October when we are doing a trip from here to PA, to include a stop by my nephews wedding in Delaware, then head down to SC for a bit before coming back to OR. I have a thread asking if we were crazy thinking of taking a brand new trailer that distance and we have a few local camping trips planned (actually writing this from the Elkridge right now) to check out if everything is working well.

Anyhow, my initial planned mods for before October include:
-- Mor/ryde pin box (already have it, but it's in a box in my garage, lol)
-- Dexter E-Z flex equalizers
-- Neverfail bushings
-- 16" wheel upgrade with 245/75/16 Duravis tires (still debating between a few of the Duravis models 250, 500 or 700, a new thread on that will come out shortly)
-- Some quick (just thrown together lumber boxes for now) underbelly storage (for storing the ladder and folding camp table) since there is no pass through of really much external storage in this model Elkridge.

Also if I have time, I am going to try and weld together a better muffler for my older (like circa 1990's, can't believe that was more than 20 years ago) 5000 Watt Honda generator since it is pretty loud compared to newer generators, and see about mounting it on the rear cargo carrier next to the shore power line, but that is a nice to have and might not make the cut before the first long distance trip.

We used to live just outside Philly but we're thinking about staying at a KOA in West Chester while visiting with friends and family. We're also going to stay on my sister's farm in Delaware for a while too.

johnpsz, congratulation on your new rig. How does it tow with the 3/4ton truck? Reason I'm asking is I want to upgrade to a 5er without having to buy a dually. The weight on these seems OK for a 2500 rig. I'm currently wanting to look at the 289 model. I'm sure there are some in Houston or any model of the Lite series so I can see how thy are put together. They look nice in your video and on their web page. Again, please let me know how it feels with your truck. Thanks in advance.
