Hopefully we will still be in the area by then Dave. If we are you know we will be there.

Byrd - when we move to TN in 2011 ("the plan"), I will need to take voice lessons from you :)

Dave - I have put it on my calendar. We are hoping to make it and as Byrd would say, it's not but a hoot an'a holler (or two) from Crossville so we can check-in on the retirement property during the same trip.

Jim believe me, you will pick it up easy enough when you make all those southern friends..

Once you start RVing with Heartland, our kids should only be allowed to have January weddings.

It is a great place to take your Harley in a Cyclone!

Well, we go to Maggie Valley every year with our Harley group and Cherokee is south of there.

You just have to remember to check your routes very carefully as the roads are very hilly and
lots of turns..

Cherokee is a town we pass through from Maggie Valley to get to the famous road called The Dragon.. . It is only fun in a car, truck or Motorcycle`IMHO. The Dragon is known for its' 318 curves in 11 miles! We got stuck up there one fall night in the truck during a major storm. Duane can tell the story..

I know that Duane and I got into a pickle just pulling our Harley trailer.
I am sure plenty of folks can get us all there easily..

I Will go mark our calendars now for the 2012 Eastern Regional Rally.

Well, ...... there goes all hope of curing this addiction in 2011. First I had to schedule the National Rally in Goshen scheduled for mid June. Then along comes the PA chapter leaders with a PA rally the weekend before leading up to the National Rally. Now we are adding the Eastern Region Rally. What's next??? North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, oh, I heard Georgia as well!!! Before I know it, spinning completely and recklessly out of control, we will have to go to Ohio, Wisconsin, Texas, California, and someone else is talking about a trip to Alaska!!!!!!!!!

Oh I REALLY LOVE IT!!! Oh yeah, the rally-aholic meetings will have to continue. Is there any hope?

Yep Byrd that is just what I mean!! 2011 not 2012.. I guess that was like trying to be a yr. older than I am.

They dont call me Iforget for nothing.. will you be my social reminder.. So many groups and dates as you can see, i should also be called "Im confused easily"
thanks Byrd...

Very Well put Eric and Dorothy!! I am having anxiety over your post already!
If they back them all up, we could be gone for months! I am not saying it is a bad thing but...
Looks like selective commitments will have to be made if that happens.

Clearly it would be difficult to choose as the more Rallies we attend with Heartland, the more great friends we make.
Who do we leave out? Oh my oh my..
I will let Duane make the decisions and I will follow..being that he is not retired yet. He gets to select his vacations before the next year which is great for those who like to plan ahead.
I personally like to have a few commitments scattered over the season and then have the ablility to throw in a few more fun weekends.
This make me think of our daughters's comment "When are you going to stop camping with all your friends and find time to visit us in London, Mom?"

Dick,

To answer your question.

An event of this size a budget has to be put together and approved by Jim and Heartland.
It would do no good to put it on the events calendar without the support of Heartland.

I have submitted the budget and now waiting for the approval.

The rally fee for NON Heartland owners club will be $20.00, however if you join the club at the rally the fee will be waived.

We feel that this fee must be imposed for this rally, due to of all of the things that are provided free by Heartland to the club members.

Thank you for understanding,

One night potluck might not be a bad idea in that there is not much open in Cherokee in April, until after the middle of May (still slim pick'n for restuarants being open then). We can all go gambling since Harrah new addition to the casino will be open then.

Jim & Harriet
09-28-2010, 04:20 PM
hummm.... we have never been to Cherokee and I had thought there would be lots of "stuff"
happening in that town even at the end of April. But potluck is always fun and I'm sure there
will be Heartland events too.

Good news we have a volunteer to take control of the food prep and gathering for a Potluck dinner on Friday night at the Eastern Rally at Cherokee. Contact Deb Funderburg (boattofiver) so she can plan what to have.

So for all the folks that wanted a Potluck dinner here is your chance, I am sure that Deb will be asking for help in the near future.

Thanks Deb for stepping up.

I've been down there a bunch (just last week). Most things require a good ride.
One thing that may be an interest is the Great Smoky Mountain Train ride in Bryson city.

Or anyone that would possibly bring a motorcycle - this is motorcycle country! And sports cars.

We just signed up for Cherokee. I think we're going to change our site type and change our dates too so I'm not going to bother y'all with what may soon become moot. And there's a pretty solid rumor that another huge Cyclone will be joining up soon as well. :DFun, fun, fun! This should be a real hoot!

Hey Dave, is RV4Less going to bring one of the new Titaniums? I know RV Outlet in Danville already has (or had) one in stock...

Hi All,

Dorothy van Opstal (Fying Dutchman's wife) is the person who is in charge of the potluck dinner on Friday April 29, has asked that if you are going to bring something for the potluck let her know what it will be. In addition if you want to give a name to the dish you are bringing let her know what it is.

Dorothy and Eric have made arrangements to print out the names of the dishes as well. If would like to share the recipe E-mail or PM Dorothy. If you would like to contribute a dish that is your favorite please contact her.

Thank you,

Dave

Hello everyone,
My wife (Barb) and I are new to this group. We just purchased a sundance in October and traded in a Heartland Edge which we dragged down here from Pennsylvania to our new home. We plan to make many of the Heartland rallies and have been blessed to meet many great friends from the group, Terry and Renee are from our Statesville/Taylorsville area and have made us feel like old friends. Barb and I have two 13 year old children, Nick and Poke a mixed lab and mixed pointer although don't mention that to them. We will be attending the rally and we are at site 214 so stop on in and get aquainted.

Ann and I would like to attend as we are going to be in N. GA during that time, but we need to know what is the latest date we can sign up. Ann will be having shoulder surgery in April but we don't know the date as yet and won't until after the 18th of April. So, if it works out and we can attend let us know how late we can register and the cost.

Thanks,

Dave, it looks like some fortunate work scheduling is going to occur that would allow me to take a couple of days off in late April, so as of right now we are planning on coming to the rally. We are scheduled to be on site 180, arriving on Thursday, departing on Sunday.

Here is a update from the campground as of April 15 all the sites that have NOT been claimed by Heartlanders will be turned back into the campground for other people to use. So if you are thinking about coming to the rally the time is getting very short.

We are fortunate to have Butch and Karen Burson from RV's For Less in Knoxville be our dealer sponsor for our Eastern Regional Rally. Butch will host a seminar on Saturday morning where he will demonstrate the Reico Wireless Leveling System, and CorrectTrack, an axle alignment correction kit. Butch will have available discount coupons for these products for those who have interest in them. Butch will also answer any of your questions regarding the care and maintenance of your trailer. You will find that Butch and Karen are great folks with a passion for RV'ing that we enjoy as well.

I have also been told that following the Saturday evening catered meal we will all have an opportunity for "lady luck" to bestow some really great door prizes. Odds are really good for those attending to win a TireMinder tire pressure monitoring system that will come with 4 wireless transmitters, and a digital numerical read-out that can monitor up to 22 tires. If that's not enough, how about winning a 5 night camping stay in Pigeon Forge, TN. Great prizes for some lucky winners. But you have to be there to have a chance. There is still time and camp sites available for those that would still like to sign-up. It will be a fun and informative rally, and you will have a great time with fellow Heartlander's. Hope to see you there.

It was a rough night of weather for much of the country. We are safe and sound here in Cherokee, receiving some wind and rain, but not too bad really. We were spared. Hoping the rest of our Heartland friends fared as well.

We have have about 5 rigs here at the rally this far and expect quite a few arrivals today.

Travel safe.

Glad you all are OK. Had some tornado sightings close by at Quantico, Stafford, and Nokesville, but only hard rain, wind, and small hail here. No damage that I know of yet.
