Actually we had to wait for John's contract negotiations to wrap up so we knew what days we could plan on. We are arriving on Friday and departing on Sunday so you know it didn't go too well! His time is now limited with no carry over from year to year.

As you may have read in another thread Mary and I are stepping down as the NJ Chapter Leaders. We would like to thank those who have registered for the Rally so far for their continued support. We will be at the Rally in October and Deb indicated to us that the Rally will continue under 'new' leadership as it is currently scheduled and we look forward to the new and exciting ideas they bring with them. That being said-good luck to the new NJ Leaders( I just went to edit post #1 and see that Ed & Irene Matulewicz are the new leaders). Mary and I will continue camping with Heartland groups as often as we can. Safe travels to all.

oldmannj

Thanks to Tom and Mary for their time and effort in leading the New Jersey chapter. It is Irene's and my hope to expand on the base map left in our care.
Check in here for updates as well as new information as soon as it becomes available. With all the people who have already volunteered both support and expertise, although we are new, we feel we can bring you a rally that is fun and entertaining

Sincerely Ed & Irene

It came to my attention today that there is a problem with the sites at seashore that were previously booked. I'm working on it as I write this so PLEASE don't give up on me just yet. Being a holiday weekend will slow the process down but not stop it. This should be resolved by the middle of this coming week. Sorry for any inconveniance. ED.

oldmannj
05-25-2013, 07:50 AM
I talked to the campground today (saturday) and they were able to give me 4 more sites on Lake drive. They APPEAR to be easier backin sites however, I'll go down next weekend to check them myself. Unfortunately none of the pull-thrus on Quail are avaiable at this time. This may change as time draws nearer. Updates will be posted here. ED.

dbylinski
05-25-2013, 09:12 AM
Thanks for your prompt follow through on this Ed. Big Rig sites are a necessity for any rally and that will probably be the most important question you can ask when talking about hosting a rally in any facility.

oldmannj
05-26-2013, 07:31 PM
Irene and I went to the campground today (5/26) and looked at the sites personally. I've marked the 6 remaining sites that I feel are big rig friendly with an asterisk next to their number. The other sites although they had big horns and such on them last year seem a bit tighter to my eye. I hope this helps anyone that has or had concerns with the CG and availability. Unfortunately I've come to an impass with procuring anything more suitable to our needs. ED.

More news on the rally front!!! The HEARTLAND GIVES BACK recipient for this years rally will be the Cape May County Animal Shelter. They have a wish list of goodies which will be forthcoming in the next few days. They have an initiative to help place Pit Bulls in more homes through a behaviorist. Irene and I both feel these are the most misunderstood dogs of our time. We will be trying something new for this year by having a silent auction over the rally weekend to help raise funds for this worthwhile effort. ED.

Bylinski will take 1 Ladies (XL) and 1 Mens (2XL). Are the shirts 100% Cotton? Sometimes it makes a difference in what size to order.

I think they are a blend. However another point to bring up with the shirt guy. I can however guarantee they are GREEN !!

100% cotton is much better for the summer months if your "green" choice is available in the cotton. We have done 50/50 blend shirts in the past and they were not as well received as the 100% cotton. Speaking from experience and just sayin'! You can move forward whatever way you wish.

Hi Karen, I'm afraid I gave more time and attention to design and ultimately price than brand or style. I have to speak to the supplier about kid's sizes, so I'll get you that information as well. Honestly the point you raise never entered my mind. Then again, not much ever does seep into my thick skull. LOL. ED.

Hi Donna, Unfortunately we won't be able to offer actual kid's sizes due to the size of the imprint screen. If Robbie can do a small men's shirt that's doable. Just not in the budget to have another size of the screen done. Sorry, ED.

Hi Karen, I don't know if this is exactly the information you wanted or not, but here goes. The maker will be either Gildan or Jerzees. The style is a unisex tee shirt. The shirts will be a 50/50 blend. Hope this answers your questions. ED

Tom, you should double check with the CG. They have you on the correct site but odds are they don't have your deposit under your name.
Seems to only be an issue for those of us that made the reservation last year while still at that rally.

Actually, I think that anyone that reserved last year should check and confirm their site and deposit. I can't say that I am surprised after we completed the reservation last year.

That being said I do not appreciate the cheap shot that you have taken in the 2014 posting "She will assign you a site that your rig ACTUALLY fits in.". I honestly don't know much about any of this. However I really don't think that was a comment against you Tom we stayed at Seashore a few weeks ago for The NJ State Firemens convention and encounters issues with our sites as soon as we walked though the door. The site I booked months ahead for friends was OCCUPIED when we arrived, and the other site for other friends was barely big enough for their trailer. After giving the campground all of the information they needed to successfully assign sites the CG failed twice.

Tom, My poor choice of wording aside, the only problem I've had with Seashore is that time and time again they have "informed" prospective rally goers over the phone that they didn't have a site big enough for a Bighorn or a Landmark and I've had to continually put out fires. Let's face it, even the pull thrus are lacking in the requirements for an easy fit. My intent was to inform the members that the sites at Holly Shores are more spacious than those at Seashore. In no way was that a "shot" at you!!! I apologize if you were offended. ED.

Hi Donna, The dessert thing is kinda covered already, as is the stuffing idea. With a smallish group, could you find it in your heart to do something in the way of a veggie dish? We have soup, ham, stuffing, chili, mac and cheese, stir fry veggies, meatball sandwiches, sausage and peppers along with 2 unspecified desserts. That's the list as I have it right now. Doesn't surprise me at all. Don't see where it is a cheap shot by any means. Especially since the organizers don't pull a 41' 5th wheel.

Many South Jersey campgrounds are:

Older
Designed around travel trailers - before slide outs
Smaller sites
Narrow roads (Bakers Acres - oh my!)
Over priced
Charge for everything

And - cater to seasonals

Donna we sure hope he is feeling ok once the sedation wears off. If he's grumpy, it for a darn good reason and we'll do our best cheer him up! Be safe and we'll see you tonight.

I filled the Captian Morgan bottle he should be all good! He bounces back surprisingly quick. He had a tumor removed from behind his eye a few years ago and was up and hunting 2 days later so this should be a walk in the park

I already loaded the van gassed it up and hooked up the trailer so all we need to do is load the bikes and be on our way. I have no problem driving if I need to.

It's Sunday morning and although John and I have to head home today we know some of you are staying until tomorrow. We hope you continue to have a good time as we close this rally season on a great note.

Special thanks go to Ed and Irene. They allowed us to help just a bit but were on a single handed mission to make sure we had enough to eat and lots of laughs. We did! You both deserve recognition for your energy and drive to make sure attendees were taken care of! Congrats on a very successful first rally!

Thanks to Crossroads Trailers Sales for a super Italian meal! Dina and her team were here to help us serve and we truly appreciate her close association and support of the Owners Club.

Thanks to all who made the trip to support the NJ Chapter.

Lastly, the biggest congratulations of all go out to the proud parents of Penny! Penny was one of the dogs brought out by the animal shelter and was adopted by Ed and Irene. I am sure she will enjoy her new home and we'll be seeing her around camp in the future!

Congratulations to the NJ Chapter on a very successful Give Back Initiative. They raised over $500.00 in addition to his array of supplies for the Cape May County Animal Shelter and Pit Bull Rehab Program. Well done NJ!

Irene and I are more than a little bit humbled by the overwhelmingly positive response to our first effort as chapter leaders. For that we say THANK YOU !!!!! The family that is the Heartland owners club never ceases to amaze me with their generosity and support of the give back program. We raised $550.00 in cash with the silent auction, earmarked to directly benefit the Pit Bull Rehabilitation Program, as well as a huge number of other donated items to benefit the other dogs and over 200 cats that currently reside at the shelter. Through your efforts and generosity these animals will live a bit better until they find their forever homes. Plans are underway to bring you another great rally in May because.....well, you folks deserve the best!! Thank you again,we love you all. ED & Irene.

Today there was no wind, t-shirts and flat water at the beach.

Burning Irene and Ed's firewood now and it is still dead calm and comfy.

Outstanding JOB Irene and Ed BZ !
