Additional Info:
------------------------------
The Rally will be held at the Desert Gold RV Resort. The physical address is in the town of Brenda, mailing address is in Salome. If you are using a GPS, some units will not accept Brenda as a city. Salome is about 6 miles to the east of Brenda.

All RSVP must come through the AZ Chapter Leader and "NOT" Desert Gold RV Resort. I will handle all names until the designated date Sept 1, 2014, at which time the names will be given to Linda at the RV Resort. You will be notified when this takes place and will have about two weeks to call Linda with your Credit Card confirmation. No exceptions, as Linda will not take your individual reservation for the Rally until after I transfer the name list to her. I will post the phone number for you to call when the time comes. Once the name list has been confirmed, late bookings may or may not be in the same section as the Rally attendees. Every effort will be made, so if this is important to you, make your reservations early.

CHECK IN 9 AM -5 pm: CHECK OUT by Noon. The RV Resort will escort all rigs into their space and help you park. It is important to follow the way they direct you. Every site location has a Palm Tree and if you don't follow the guides, you will have a difficult time backing around the Palm Tree and into your space. It's not a problem if you approach it from the proper side. This may not be your Drivers side in most locations. On exception only, they will set up a late check in, but the Rally Group must guide you in. Potluck dinner will be held on the Thursday of the Rally. Details will follow as we have the option of using an inside room or the outdoor BBQ. The evenings get into the 30's in Jan and we will decide the venue in a few weeks.

The Quartzsite RV Show, which is the largest RV Show in the world will be held Jan 17-25, 2015. The show breaks up around 4 pm daily. Our Rally is planned for 4 days, however you may arrive early or stay late to get the weekly rate. Just let me know your dates in conjunction with the Rally.

Please note that any activities in which we use the Party room, you may bring in alcoholic beverages. One stipulation, we must clean up the room when done and this includes taking all trash bags, to the dumpster.
No beer cans or bottles may be left in the room.

Fires: There is a Fire Ring in the BBQ area and that is the only place a Fire is AUTHORIZED....This BBQ area is very nice and has 110V outlets available. Two 55 gallon drums make up the BBQ. We will need to reserve this space for any activities we want to plan in this area.

ACTIVITIES:
------------------------------
Wed Eve: 6:00 pm Lippert Seminar in the Clubhouse and Social hour, bring your drink of choice.
Thur Eve: 5:30 - 8pm In the Clubhouse...Pot luck Dinner....Steak and chicken fajitas furnished by the Chapter, bring your own plates and utensils.
Fri Eve: 6:00- 8pm Clubhouse...Steal a Gift Night....Bring a gift valued between $10-15. Each person or rig with a gift will receive a ticket for each gift. All gifts will be on a display table. The first number drawn will select from any gift. The next number drawn will select from the table or take another persons gift. If your gift in hand is taken from you, you will select from the table. Only the drawn number may steal a gift or select from the table. A twist...after all gifts have been taken, there will be a secret person drawn that will have the final selection from any gift and exchange their gift with the one they steal...game over.
Sat eve: 6:00 - 8pm Clubhouse...Door prizes, 50/50 drawing & Raffle, Social hour in club house.

Phoenix Bi-Pass......Yesterday when driving to the RV Resort via the Tucson way, I was caught in traffic for over an hour and half....Thought this could be bad pulling an RV. I found on the way back they have a Phoenix Bi-Pass which takes you on the Gila Bend route to I-8 and around into Casa Granda. You might consider this way in both directions as it will save you a major headache and chewing on your fingernails....

Just an FYI:

Any ideas or suggestions on what the Chapter should provide in the way of meat for the Pot luck Dinner?
I can buy at wholesale through the Restaurant Depot which supplies to all the restaurants in AZ. They sell in
bulk but I would think we will have around 40 people to feed. Also no tax....

So let me hear your wish list....

Tri Tip is always good if slow cooked with a good BBQ sauce.

Are these spots pull through, and all together.

Doublegranch
05-24-2014, 11:28 AM
No pull thru spots are available for Rally's, they are reserved for the short term and overnight stays. All the spots are together if you book prior to me releasing the names to the RV Resort. After that, every effort will be made to get late bookings in with the group but it may or may not work out.
Hope that helps you.

We have less than two months before I release the names for the Quartzsite Rally to the RV Resort. After that time, late bookings may or may not be close to the group block. If you are on the fence, it is best to RSVP before the Sept 1 deadline. You can always CXLD before Linda takes down you credit card for a deposit. You will have approximately two weeks after I release the names to confirm your reservations with a credit card.

The Arizona Chapter is looking forward to welcoming more of our Heartland Snow Birds to this Rally.. Let us know if we can help you in any way.

We will have a super raffle prize, a $200 value private wine tasting event for 8 people. The vineyard is Kief Joshua Vineyards in Elgin AZ. There is no expiration date for this prize. Tickets will be sold at $5 each.

This is the final week to RSVP for the Quartzsite Rally. I will release the names and spaces on Tuesday Sept 2 . After this release, any late bookings may or may not be close to the Rally group. After I give the RV Resort the name list, I will post the RV Phone number and contact for you to call and confirm your RSVP with a credit card. I will also send each attendee an email with the instructions. You will have two weeks to make the confirmation, after that time your space will be cancelled. I know this is early for a Jan Rally, but this was the only way to reserve a block of space so we could all be together. The park sells out every year at this time and if you want to attend this Rally, please RSVP by the end of this week.

We welcome all Heartland members to participate in the Rally! Please let me know if I may be of any assistance toward accommodating your stay.

Look forward to seeing everyone in Jan at Quartzsite.

Rally activities update:

Jan 21, Wednesday: 6:00 - ??...BBQ Area....Social Hour, bring your drink of choice.
Jan 22, THursday: 5:30 - 8 pm...Clubhouse......Pot luck dinner
Jan 23, Friday: 6:00 - 8 pm...Clubhouse.....Steal A Gift night....bring your gifts unwrapped
Jan 24, Saturday: 6:00 - 8pm....Clubhouse.....Raffle, door prizes, 50/50 drawing & Social Hour

We were fortunate to book the clubhouse for three evenings, as their policy is only one night per group...Since the evening weather could be cold, this will give us a great place to hold our activities.

We currently have 20 RV's that have confirmed with a credit card, so this is an exciting number. Our farthest HOC member will be driving from Florida,,,wow what a nice trip!
Remember, we were able to get the Park to allow us alcoholic beverages in the clubhouse, with the stipulation we clean and remove all trash from the facility each night. No alcoholic containers may be left in the room.....

We recently got three new couples booked into the Rally within the last few days, so there is still space in the park. If you are thinking about joining us for the Quartzsite Rally, don't wait to book much longer to be assured you will be in the Rally block space.

See you all in Jan....this is going to be an exciting Rally!!!!!

We are really stoked about coming down to Quartzsite!

This will be our third HOC rally.

Even our three campin' kitties are fired up that they don't have to wait until next spring to go campin'!

32525

We are thinking of leaving a day earlier than originally planned so that we can stop by the Grand Canyon on the way down for a look-see.

From Denver I figure we'll make it to Albuquerque the first night . . .

Then maybe find a campground near Flagstaff or closer to the Grand Canyon for one night and then do a day trip to the canyon before we head down to the rally on the 21st.

Or maybe add the extra day after the rally to head up there . . .

Never been there and figure that we can't be that close without at least stopping there for a selphy!

We thought about making a day trip up there from the rally, although it looks like it might be a little to far away for a day trip in the winter.

Since Garry obviously can't read, I will answer your question. The Grand Canyon is WAY too far for a day trip from the rally. Pulling to flagstaff and visiting the canyon would be a much better option. Just keep an eye on the weather - you will be on some high country (for us, anyway). Looking forward to meeting you and your wife. I won her towels and I love them!

We are really stoked about coming down to Quartzsite!

Even our three campin' kitties are fired up that they don't have to wait until next spring!

32525

We are thinking of leaving a day earlier than originally planned so that we can stop by the Grand Canyon on the way down for a look-see.

Never been there and figure that we can't be that close without at least stopping there for a selphy!

Maybe find a campground near Flagstaff for one night and then do a day trip to the canyon.

We thought about making a day trip up there from the rally, although it looks like it might be a little to far away for a day trip in the winter.

Any thoughts on this?
John, Flagstaff to Grand Canyon Village is about 80 miles, while it's closer to 300 miles from Quartzite. That time of year you can probably get campsite at Grand Canyon too.

However, all seven of our cats are Mainecoon's . . . and they are all very large cats!

Spicy (the one on the left in the first photo) is 20 pounds and is probably close to the same size as Dakota!

Part of the reason I needed a new truck was because of the size and weight of the cats! :o (not really...just made that up) ;)

I'm sure Cathy can set you up with a great item for the prize night!

We met Garry this past spring as he was parked right next door to us at the 2014 Colorado HOC Rally at Martindale RV Park near Colorado Springs.

32529 32530

He was fired up about the crafts she makes and thought they would make some great prizes for the rally you just attended!

That was our first HOC Rally . . . and the Rifle, Colorado Rally just over three weeks ago, was our second.

Quartzsite will be our third . . . can't wait to meet you all and to have a blast!!!

Quartzsite Rally attendees: Great NEWS......Lippert Components will be giving our group a private seminar on their products. We will announce a time/date in a few days and they will come out to our RV Rally site for this presentation. I have asked they to give us an overview on all their products vs just a select item. They are also offering to do any repair work or install new items on your RV's during or prior to our Rally by appointment only. So if you are looking at a 6 point leveling system, they will do it in 8 hours. They are offering a very nice discount on all services and items for our group as well. Let me know by email or PM if you want something done and I will get the cost and set up an appointment for you. They also have a new sewer hose system they will be talking about as well.

This is really exciting and a great opportunity for us to take advantage of. Lippert will be in Quartzsite starting on Jan 9th and through the show.

More to be announced in a few days.....stay tuned as this will be a very exciting Rally.....

Gary I have been looking for a way to weigh my unit without going to a truck stop. I found a guy here in Havasu that has portable scales that can weigh all the tires on the truck and trailer, he then weighs the truck and a computer program gives the weight for each wheel and the tongue or pin weight. As an aside I asked if there were any interest in the members would he consider a trip to Brenda during the rally. He seemed amenable so I thought I would throw it at you to see if there is any interest from the attendees in getting their rigs weighed. Cost is $90 for truck and trailer analysis.

Quartzsite Rally activities:

On Wed evening Jan 21st, for our social hour, I have changed the location from the outdoor BBQ area to inside the Clubhouse. At 6 PM, we will have the Lippert group give us a presentation on their products.
They will also have Tech reps available to answer any questions you may have on products or you rigs. We have the clubhouse available until 8 pm, so bring a beverage and we will mingle after the presentation.
Hope this works for the majority, as our evenings are full of activities and this was about the only time we had available for the Lippert presentation.

The club will supply the tortillas, grilled onions & peppers, Hot sauce and meat for the fajitas. If you can, plan your dish around our menu. Also remember to bring your own eating utensils, plates, forks etc. Chapters normally only provide the meat for pot lucks.

Attendees traveling from the Tucson area to Quartzsite, you may have missed an earlier posting on avoiding the Phoenix traffic. Here is the posting and Ann was kind enough to map the route and it is only 7 minutes longer but you miss all the Phoenix Traffic.....Take I-10 to I -8, exit 119 to AZ 85...that will take you back to I-10 and completely around Phoenix....Hope this will be of help in your travels....See you in about 13 days...

Re: EVENT: Heartland Chapter Rally: AZ, Brenda / Salome - 1/21/2015 to 1/25/2015
Phoenix Bi-Pass......Yesterday when driving to the RV Resort via the Tucson way, I was caught in traffic for over an hour and half....Thought this could be bad pulling an RV. I found on the way back they have a Phoenix Bi-Pass which takes you on the Gila Bend route to I-8 and around into Casa Granda. You might consider this way in both directions as it will save you a major headache and chewing on your fingernails....

Want to hear something cool, gang? We had 15 rigs at our first ever rally at Huachuca City, 3 of which were from out of town and we were so happy to meet them! At the upcoming rally in quartzite EVERYONE from Huachuca is coming with the exception of don & Monica from Colorado and Tandy and her crew from Texas. I really did think we had a great time but I think this proves it! Can't hardly wait to see everyone again and meet all of the 'new to me' attendees.

Remember that some garmins do not show Brenda when you program it....Some will send you in a wrong direction,,,, When you get off I-10 the first exit prior to approaching Quartzsite, you will drive down a two lane road for several miles. You will come to a round about..my garmin sent me to the right...don't go that way, take the round about and go to your left....continue for about 5 miles or so...Desert gold will be on your left...well marked and you cannot miss it. This way appeared faster than going to Quartzsite and then back tracking....Our RV site is about 15 miles from Quartzsite....Hope this helps everyone......I will arrive around 10 am on Tuesday the 20th.

We are on our way . . . decided to spend the night at the Las Vegas, NM KOA!

Thought we were on the verge of a BlowMax moment, when I saw what I thought was a tire separation getting ready to blow.

But after looking over the situation, I discovered that the tire was gouged on a piece of moulding under the slide when we hit a big unmarked bump on I-25 in Colorado Springs, and the tire seems to be OK.

34081

Interestingly, there is less than a half an inch of space between the top of the tire and the bottom of the slide out!

Tried to get it checked at the Walmart in Trinidad as the Big O Tire store was closed . . . but they didn't seem interested in helping me out, so we pressed on.

Will stop in Albuquerque tomorrow to get it swapped with the spare, then on the the Petrified National Monument (hopefully) for the night!

ALERT - as Gary tried to advise us Desert Gold RV park is NOT is Salome even though all their literature refers to it. Turn your GPS off - here's the easy direction. west on I10 to 11 miles before Quartzsite, take exit 31 and head east on highway 60 for 3 1/2 miles. Resort is on the right. And for those coming from Tucson, the Phoenix alternative route that was posted earlier is awesome. Better paved 4 lane road than I8 and a nice easy drive. We're here and waiting! Safe travels everyone.

just saw that mtpockets posted the same route as above. Follow this route, you will not be sorry

No...

That was the rear drivers side tire...

This is the front passenger side tire...the same one that lost the hub cap that I replaced at the Flagstaff Camping World.

I'm really surprised that the service guy at CW didn't notice that the bearing cap on that wheel was missing (probably when that flew off is what took the hubcap with it).

I know I attended one without ours! First I checked with the Chapter Leaders. Then, I asked the rv park where the rally was held, if it was ok for me to visit and where should I park. I paid a $5 a day parking fee. My sister in law and I attended the meet-and-greet and the potluck dinner, and we brought a dish to share.

Thank you all for participating in this event and making it the most exciting Rally we have held so far. The attendance was amazing and the two new members we signed up during the Rally was super...Some of the gifts were very special and I would like to thank the Vendors for donating a few of the special gifts that everyone wanted to fight over....The $575 Joy Rider Shock system that was won by Paul....how fortunate he won it the night prior to going in to pay for this system.....The Lippert Lock system, the ARP refrigerator control module that keeps from frying your refrig....The $100 Henderson gift certificate.....The $200 Private Wine Tasting from KJV Vineyards and all the Chapter gifts that allowed everyone to walk away as a winner in the gift night....And of course it has to be said the "Steal a Gift Night" was a real hoot...who would every thought a bottle of Crown Royal, Hot Dam and Boogle Wine would have created such attention.....Congrats to Rita Potvin from Casper Wyo for winning $110 in the 50/50 drawing...Wyo was represented well with John, Rita, Art & Rose from Wyoming...You guys were all great!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sunday eveing....Hope everyone is safe on your travels home or to the next hook up....Several of our members had tires problems and it appears they were all Towmax. Mark & Michelle blew out a tire, really just disintegrated it and had some coach damage as well. Bill & Natalie had the spare tire blow on the way to the rally and another blow out just out of Chandler on the way home. Mark, Michelle and myself were following each other, a call came in for some help. By the time we got there a Class A had given Bill his spare and followed them to Tucson to collect his spare back..Wow...what a benevolent gesture! Lynn & Rose found a large bubble on one tire when they arrived at the Rally and was able to get it changed without any damage....Poor John & Cathy not only blew a tire, they then lost a hub cap from the buddy bearing cap flying off. After leaving with parts from CW in Flagstaff they then had a wheel bearing seize up..But they were determined to make the Rally and did not allow this inconvenience of mechanical issues keep them from attending....You guys are troopers in every respect.

Bill you will have to post your story about how you blew a spare tire that was never used on your rig! I don't want to steal your thunder....this is one in a million story.

Be safe everyone!

WOW, There are no words to describe the amount of fun and knowledge we had at the Quartzite Rally this weekend....

Garry, Thank You for being a true Leader and not just a positional figure head for the group, I for one know that our Az. Chapter has by far the best Chapter Leader of the entire Heartland Owners Group. Sorry, that I may be bias but Garry is the nicest person that anyone could ever meet with a heart of gold, and displays leadership in everything he does with the group. This rally was exceptionatly well organized, every event was coordinated to the finest detail and everyone walked away a winner at the "steal a gift" and the "raffle". Also, I have to say this chapter is also the best fed group with all of the delicious food the was prepared for the pot-luck, not only by the food prep team, but all of the fine dishes that everyone brought to share with the group. If you walked away hungry "it was your own fault!!"

Also, a personal special thank you to Garry for "watching my 6" the entire why back from the rally so that we would make it home safe knowing we were running back without a spare tire on our coach, that is a true friend and leader that I am proud to have!!!

We are looking forward to the national rally this June and cannot wait to attend, but our heart belong to the Az. Chapter and we will represent it proud!!! And, YES we are in for the fall rally and next February in Tucson!!!

Heartland has such a great group in this Arizona chapter and all this fun in the first year just sets the tone for more fun rallies to come. Thanks Garry and the whole group.

Garry,

Let us know as well we could probably do a three day week end and the girls have spring break Mar 9 thru Mar 20, so one of those weekends would work for us

Just got back to Denver about two hours ago . . . 9 1/2 hours from Albuquerque to Denver!

Of course, 12 hours from Quartzsite to Albuquerque yesterday.

And no more issues with the trailer, except I lost the flap door of my LP tank cover somewhere between Albuquerque and Las Vegas, NM . . . DOH!

We've been looking forward to this trip for so long that I can't believe it is already over. :(

Again, we had a blast and can't wait for the next one in Arizona that we can attend . . . probably Tucson.

Also, Cathy wanted me to put out a big Thank You to those who bought some of her crafts.

Tomorrow . . . back to reality . . . that four letter word . . . WORK!

Hi All, Just wanted to say we had a great time. Thanks for making the Colorado contingent feel welcome! So glad to have been part of it. What a well organized and fun event! Well done Garry and the RAT PACK. :) Extra shout out for the help on the day we left ... couldn't get one of our landing gear to raise ... ended up having it replaced in Quartzsite... Mary & Phil

Plus, thank you guys (Mary & Phil) for offering up space in your Bighorn for us if we needed it while our trailer was being repaired in Phoenix!

And I second what you said about making those of us from Colorado welcome and a part of the Arizona Chapter!

And thank you Garry & Dakota and all of the other Arizona chapter members for making us one of the Arizona HOC family!

While we can't make all of the future Arizona events, you can bet that you will see us at many of the future Arizona Chapter campouts and rallies as we now are part of the Arizona HOC family!!!

But since we are so close, we hope to see many of you come up to some of our Colorado HOC events!

We have a great bunch here as well, so I know that you'll love the Colorado HOC . . .

And the Colorado Rockies . . . ain't nothing like them!

I know we'll see Garry up here, since we still need to deal with those RV socks . . . :o

Love you guys . . . all of you! :o

A BIG Thank You for all the wonderful postings! It makes my heart sing to know everyone had such a super time..
I have been busy posting and coordinating our next 3 Meet n Greets and two Rally's, but I have hundreds of Pictures to post.
Once I get a little more settled, I will create a thread called "Arizona Chapter Pictures" This will contain pictures from all our events
Not sure how it will all work, as I have not posted pictures in the past and if there is a limit on what we can post. I will give it a good
old college try and if need help, will call on you guys who do this kind of thing on a regular basis....
Safe Travels to everyone and please continue to check out our postings and events.....
And to John D, yes you can bet those socks are returning to the Colo Chapter.. and in the new condition in which I won them....

I am still in tears that this rally is over . . . :o

We had a blast, even though we missed half of the rally due to our unexpected mechanical failures in Phoenix!!

Can't wait to see y'all in Tucson next February (2016) as WE WILL be there!

We do have two Colorado HOC events planned this year in case any of you want to come on up . . . and we do have a great bunch of folks here, as Garry & Dakota can attest to (she's met some of our cats)!

Plus, we also have our regularly scheduled July 4th. Weekend Campout (just us and some of our cats, family members and friends) planned if anyone wants to come on up and join us for that (St. Vrain State Park at I-25 and HWY 119 at the Longmont exit, about 30 miles north of Denver) . . .

Let me know soon and I'll reserve spaces for you . . .

Here are some shots I took at that state park campground:

It was good talking to you on the phone last night, Garry!

I'll be booking our usual July 4th. Weekend spot at St. Vrain State Park near Longmont, Colorado sometime this week.

We usually book there as it is close enough that Cathy can still go to work as she can't take any time off in July (end of fiscal year and all that stuff).

I know I mentioned earlier that I lost the flap lip to our LP tank flip cover lid on the way way home from the 2015 Quartzsite Rally, so I thought I'd let you know on the replacement outcome.

I went to the local Camping World, and all they could do was sell me a complete replacement LP Tank Cover ($35) and in stock!

However, they did give me the name name of a local LP gas and tank accessory reseller that could sell me the flap lid cover . . .

Great!

They could special order the flap-lid cover for $35 plus shipping ($10 = $45 total), when I could buy the whole tank cover at Camping World for $35 and it was in stock right now . . .

However, I did a Google search for the LP Tank Cover Lid, and found it at all places . . . Walmart.com!

For $10.01 with free shipping to my neighborhood Walmart Store!

Mine is to arrive on Tuesday for free pickup!

Just thought I'd let you all know . . .

Here is a link if anyone needs one of theses . . .

By the by . . . if you need one, I lost mine on I-25 northbound between Albuquerque and Las Vegas, NM about two weeks ago, so your welcome if you find it!
