I just bought a new 2016 Heartland Mallard. So far I am very impressed with the quality of the trailer. I did notice when I went out to put something in it last night, there is no light at the stairs. There are times the light at the stairs came in very handy with our old trailer.

I have a light behind my steps... I upgraded it to a LED light and leave it on all the time.... I also placed http://www.amazon.com/Glow-Dark-Photoluminescent-Green-green/dp/B00M8PYDZI?ie=UTF8&keywords=luminous%20tape&qid=1463174748&ref_=sr_1_4&sr=8-4 on the edge of the steps... This helps a lot at night...

Yes I guess I should have said mmt old trailer had the light behind the stairs. Did you install the LED light new or upgrade a factory light?

We just purchased a new Mallard M231 and have the same problem. There is an outside light above the door but the light is blocked when the door is open. Also there is good lighting when the awning is out but that is rarely the case. I would like to add a light at or behind steps but not sure where to find a 12 volt connection that is easy to access....tim

Thank you Ron for the glow in the dark tape suggestion. I went ahead and ordered a roll for our stairs which have no light. I might also stick on my awning rails which seem attracted to my forehead...tim
