I have a 2900 mk. From experience on a previous trailer with the same thickness bumper ABSOLUTELY nobody should mount a bike rack on a bumper that has not been reinforced. It is not the weight that gets you but the bouncing and twisting going down the road that causes metal fatigue and then failure.

I agree with the above posts,but another possiblity could be that the pins were only inserted halfway through . If that was the case there would be twice the normal shear load on the pins and hence the failure.

If you raise the landing gear till they stop or make noises you will blow the fuse every time. You have to figure out how high they should go and put a mark on the legs to tell you to stop raising them. Things are not made as tough as the old days:)
