Made mine with boat top vinyl and velcro...works like a dream. We can close up all the windows in the middle of the day and watch a movie in total darkness.
We have an M-18 and have been sleeping on the orginal mattress with a memory foam pad and thick mattress pad but are looking to upgrade further. What have you guys done? Should we just buy a Queen size memory foam mattress or a spring mattress?

Been in some fairly hot weather last summer (95 degrees plus) and never had a problem with it not keeping up...same complaints about the bed and shower that you guys have though. I just don't try to use the shower...usually stay in parks with showers or just "wash-up" in the shower.
That's strange since there is settings on it for heat...If you really want it maybe you should contact the manufacturer yourself eh? I guess I'm not as trusting as some.

Mine did it from the factory too, they discovered it when before they released it to me though and installed a new brass one--haven't had any problems since. The mechanic said the one from factory was a "cheap plastic one".
I've looked into mounting it and so far haven't because of exactly what you have pointed out. Right now, I just take it down for travel-hasn't been a problem, but I may end up finding a way to mount it to the back wall or to a reinforced plate.
