    We sold our ElkRidge

Hello all, Well yesterday was bittersweet. We sold our 2011 Elkridge, for several different reasons, we haven't been able to take it out on a trip for about 4 years, and decided it was time to get rid of it. We have really enjoyed our many trips with it, and the wonderful people we've met, and...

    Possible hacker

Well, it sounds like I'm in good company! I knew it was a scam right off, just wanted to make sure everyone knew that in case they started making posts on here.

    Possible hacker

Recently I've been getting an email show up in my junk mail box from "someone" stating they know my pass word, and something about installing a virus. I haven't opened the email, and won't, I just delete it. However it states the password that I've used just for the HOC forum. I've never...

Opinions on heating when off grid.

We volunteered for the Forest Service in Wyoming a few years ago. Towards the end of August we were getting frost at night, & stayed until mid September. Had to run the furnace at night and one battery lasted all night. Don't remember how cold it got at night, or what we had the thermostat...

    non working refrigerator

One other thing to check, I learned this the expensive way. If your fridge is plugged into a GFIC circuit, check the outlet to make sure the GFIC hasn't tripped. Had that issue about a month ago, fridge was only working on the gas side. I checked everything I could think of & finally called a...

Critters other than cats and dogs

We've seen some unusual pets on the road. I think the oddest is a goat! They were in a converted school bus and when he converted it he built a "stable" in the rear for the goat. They also had dogs & cats. Can't imagine the smell inside it!!!

    General Question

Michael, November & December in MO can be kind of iffy as far as freezing temps. Unless St. Louis gets colder weather than KC. We go to ND. (30 miles S. of the Canadian border) every year for the sugar beet harvest. On our way home now. This year we had more below freezing temps than ever...

    Odd water pooling issue

Outdoor shower hit me. On our Elk Ridge 5th wheel, we kept getting a sporadic leak in the basement. Didn't leak all the time, but when it did there was enough to make the carpet in there pretty wet...I could hit the floor with my hand and water would splash. Like you said maybe 1/2 gallon if...

    Got an expensive education today

Last week I turned the fridge on to let it start cooling down for the upcoming trip in our 2011 Elk Ridge. Went out a couple of hours later & it wasn't working. Determined that it was working on the gas side, but not electric. Checked the breakers, & fuses and everything checked out OK...

EVENT: Heartland Chapter Rally: MO, St. Charles - 8/16/2018 to 8/19/2018

Well sadly, I called the campground and canceled our reservation today. As those of you who were at the regional rally in Branson know, we had to leave early because Sally's mom & my dad were both having health issues. My Dad is somewhat better now, but Sally's mom isn't. She's been going...

    Water heater anode rod

Whenever I take mine out, I'll clean up the threads with a small wire brush, then use teflon tape, or plumbers seal on the threads. Don't think you really need either one, but it helps it go in easier. Sometimes they can be a booger to get the threads aligned, you've just got to keep at it...

    sewer smell- need help

Glad you found your issue! One thing to think about is a product called UNIQUE (LINK), it's a "green" product and does a great job. We've been using it for several years & now when I dump the black tank all that comes out is colored water-no solids. We've even started using the same TP we use...

    ATF: ElkRidge - Saw Dust

We've got a 2011 Elk Ridge, and are still getting sawdust mainly inside the light fixtures & we've got over 40,000 miles on it. I'm thinking it's fairly common through all the brands.
