When they drill the black for the down pipe the slug may have got left in the tank to float about. This happened to me once.

Maybe you have a black tank slug floating to the gate valve?

I think my front cap is about to hatch a chick or something, cracks radiating out !! job to take pictures cause of the shine anyone had this problem with cracks whats the best fix also on the rear cap some either side. Yet another thing to add to the list.
