Re: ATF: Bighorn - flood
As of yet I do not own a Heartland, my wife and I are selling everything and as soon as the house sells we will become full timers. The unit we have just about decided on is the Bighorn 3585 so this posting is of a concern for me. I see where aquiring signal's trailer...
Thank you for your reply rboehlke. Interresting you would mention a rear kitchen unit. We had been considering a sob with the rear kitchen, after seeing a lot of posts on their web site about some major issues with all models we have decided against it. Thanks again.

It is my understanding that the wet bolt kit has heavier-thicker mounting hardware, replaces a plastic spacer in the center of end of the springs where they attach to frame with a brass one and the bolts have grease zerks so as when springs go up and down it keeps from having dry on dry metal...
Bob&Patty, thank you for the info about hooking the trailer to the TV. It makes sense but I haven't seen this mentioned before and I hadn't thought about that. I also hadn't considered the Equi-Flex suspension may already have it, if it does then this might be a moot point for me since I'll be...
Bob n Marion, thank you for the invite. I had seen the listing that you would be in Fort Collins and thought about sneaking in to maybe talk to everyone and will try to, the only problem is DW says we'll have to make a Panino run while we're up there LOL. As a side note we spent part of our...
jnphobe, yes I did notice that and believe me it does impress me that manufacturer reps. not only monitor but are willing to offer opinions and advice. It also impresses me that they listen to the posters and owners and present ideas from them to Heartland or suggest the posters call direct. Mark
The one listed looks very good but I have a couple more. Alot of this will be repeats already shown but you might also look at http://members.cox.net/agkcpa/pdi.htm also http://www.bitware.com/5er/pdi.htm Good luck with your purchase.
On the Bighorn forum site I posted a question in prospective owners titled question about bighorns where one of the posters posted the in writing report about full timing and warranty. Hope this helps and thanks for all the feed back.
Thanks for the install advice, it doesn't sound like it's that bad of a job to do. Probably my biggest problem will be where to do the work at since we won't be able to buy the trailer until the s&b sells, but I'll have time to figure that out. Thanks again, Mark
Ray, thank you for your response. I know any rv can have minor flaws and inconveinences, but these types of things I consider major and I'm glad to see this doesn't seem to be a Bighorn problem. Thanks again, Mark
I am just curious, do the wholesale dealers in Indiana specialize in just models from a certain manufacture ( I.E. regular dealer) or do they sell anything and everything from all manufacturers? I am also wondering if they take in tradeins and if they do I can't imagine they give you much on it...
I want to thank all of you for your responses. I can see the bennefits for both. One more quick question on this, did you do your own install of the wet bolt kits and how hard was it? Thanks again, Mark
Thanks to all three of you for your responses. So far I am leaning towards a Bighorn, the one thing about the forums that impresses me is the fact that Heartland Reps. give opinions and advice as well as following up on what the topics are. Thanks again, Mark
