    Tranmission temperature while towing

PULL DOG hit the nail on the head PULL DOG makes a perfect statement concerning temps in transmissions. He is exactly right! We pull many commercial hauls and one of the sins of travel is stopping when very hot, it causes boil off and there is no air or flow to carry the excess off. In our...

Cw5 It started as a non-pay grade to dislodge all of us old W4s. The only way they can get rid of you is to pass you over for promotion twice and with no other rank to be promoted to the CW5 was started to be able to get rid of the W4s. Well Congress would not let them make it a non-pay grade...

Warrant Vs Commissioned The big differance in a Warrant and a Commissioned Officer is that a Commissioned means put in to service and Warrant means guaranteed to work. I was an aviation Warrant, started in Vietnam (1969) as a UH-1C gunship pilot for the 282nd Alleycats and the 48th Jokers all...

    Poor Quality Control etc.

Not to worry I purchased a 2009 3580RL Bighorn and absolutely love it!! I also purchased a $375,000.00 custom home years ago. Funny thing is both developed some type of water problem, and both were repaired. In other words nothing is built that never has an issue. The leaks I had were #1...

What is everyone pulling their 3850 with??

Worked into a fret! Of all the posts that pull the most opinions are towing weights vs TVs. I have seen more charts and more "I have heards" than any other section. Everthing from Fords are bad to Dodges can't pull to Chevrolets are not worth buying to I use duals with such and such to "if...

You should HAVE and most importantly KEPT the original DD Form 214 when seperated. You should have filed it at a court house (County Records) when first seperated and then it becomes record where you can get a COPY anytime you need one. There is only one original and you should have it. I...

    Weighed rig

Jet engines Turbine engines (N2 gas producers and N1 accessory drives) turn at about 56,000 RPM and vary EGT from 1300 degrees F to 2300 degrees F at max power demands and Synthetic is the only oil that can stand up to it. No coking or burning on shutdown. Oil (both) will not break down...

    All around size

Pulling in I have a 3580RL and love it. I have become used to taking a little longer to get into a site but it is worth it. I do (before going into cities) look at bridge and clearances posted on the net so I don't get my 13' 6" at a place only allowing for 13'. Some of the CGs like to pack...

    2008 Denali XL

Transmission temperatures will (should) be ambient plus 100 degrees F (give or take a little). So if it is 50 degrees Farenheit outside the transmission should be somewhere around 150 degrees Farenheit. The size of the cooler and the type of fluid you have, plus what you are pulling will...

    What a lesson!

I have used the K&N induction system on my F250 SD (year 2000 7.3PSD) and thought nothing about it. I began research about 2 months ago and have dug up horror stories about these systems. Mine was, repeat was NOT a cold air intake and this in itself will reduce power. I then began a...

    water filters

I am looking at Watts filters (double) to clean some of the water coming into our 5er and then one at the kitchen faucet to make the water a little better tasting. The pipes in RVs seem to take on a taste of thier own. Is this the best thing to do or is there a better solution?? I am also...

old saying There is an old saying in aviation! It goes "never put yourself into a positon you can't get out of!" Of all the opinions on this site that bring more responses (other than K&N filters) the tow vehicle brings it on. Not to sure if it is justification of what someone bought or...

    Interesting reading-draw your own conclusions

Used them for years Have used K&N for years on almost everything I own that has an engine. We live in farm country and have much dirt in the air and never have I seen dirt on the inside of the throat. 225,000 on the work truck and 175,000 on the puller and never a problem.

    Tow Vehicle Setup - requirements?

Simply happy I have my 7.3 I must be lucky or something. Never had a problem with my 7.3 except for changing glow plugs in 175,000 + miles and still going strong.
