Fuse Panel miss marked - need help

Well today I went through every DC circuit. Only three circuits were marked correctly. The majority were not even close. Now back to my troubleshooting. It turns out that fuse 17 that says "Yeti" on it is not even used so I took the two connections on fuse 14 (the one that blow when EMS starts...

Fuse Panel miss marked - need help

Bill, All of the Air Conditioner circuits that deal with the EMS are DC and not AC. Found that out by testing how the A/C compressors are turned on by the thermostats and all that is DC and they use DC relays. That is why it is so important to understand what is on the DC panel. Looks like...

Fuse Panel miss marked - need help

Well I am trying to trouble shoot a DC electrical problem. My fuse 14 in the panel seems to blow when the EMS tries and shed one of the ACs. My problem is the panel says fuse 14 is rear wall and LP. Well when the fuse blows two of the thermostats lose power and also the fantastic fan in the...

ford f350 superduty deisel 2004 4x4 short bed pulling 18k fiver

Not enough information. What is your rear end gear ratio? What is the pin weight of the RV? What is the bed payload capacity of the truck? Has the truck been setup for towing options like transmission cooler, heavy duty springs, etc. Based on your description you are at best on the hairy edge of...

Are we talking about an RV?

Not prospective any longer....I did it.

I also bought my truck 8 months before I bought the RV with the same logic that it should tow just about anything. Having the same truck I can tell you you bought the right truck.

Keeps blowing 15 amp 12 volt fuse

Dan - I am not sure and will try and isolate the relays this weekend. I do know that it is the AC activation that makes them blow for I was entering the RV when I heard the AC or ACs come online (I let some hot air into the RV) and the fuse blew at that time. The AC should of sequenced through...

Keeps blowing 15 amp 12 volt fuse

Have been running two A/C units on a 30 amp connect letting EMS manage the overload (shedding) when it happens. No more blowing fuses so not sure what happen but EMS is working great. After two full days I will have to say this has fixed itself.

What did you do to your camper today?

Added 50 ft extension to my Garmin RV760 GPS back camera. Now the transmitter is right next to the truck so the camera image is clear and stays connected. Will be adding TST tire pressure monitor tomorrow.

    Air suspension

I just got but have not installed yet the Timbren DR3500CA Suspension Enhancement System for my RAM 3500. My truck and trailer are very level so do not need the adjustment. I just wanted to make sure the leaf springs do not sag as the trunk gets older hauling a 18,000 lbs trailer. Besides no air...

How to remove AC duct covers in the ceiling

We replaced ours with adjustable vents in the hallway and bedroom. The vents are two pieces with a inside piece that just pulls out with enough force. The outside piece is screwed in and does not need to be removed. Our new vents popped right into the outside piece. We also removed a lot of...

    Very Low Water Pressure . . .

On our maiden voyage we had the same issue. Turned out going into the regulator is a washer with a dome screen (screen is in a dome shape). The dome was crushed so instead of a screen it turned into blockage. Replaced the washer and everything was fine. When screwing on the water hose I now...

North Carolina to the grand canyon

We took our two 13 year old boys to the Grand Canyon last April for spring break. RV was in the shop so we took the wife's car. We stayed at the Grand Canyon Railroad Hotel in Williams and it was very nice. They also have a RV park but with no RV did not stay there. The best part is you take a...

I assume that there is a switch already where you want to tap into? What does the switch power? If you can leave the switch on all the time then you can wire directly into the circuit but make sure you do not overload or the DC fuse will blow. If you still want the switch to be a switch you are...

Where can I order the Sikken paint for my RV?

Keith - I actually got the touch up paint for my Ashland but I have a lot more RV to paint than what the paint they give you. After our last trip I did an inspection and there is actually a lot of pin holes in the paint after driving 5,000 miles. I really need to touch them up ASAP or they will...

    leveling fifth to tow vehicle

Your wheel and tires most likely are the same overall tire diameter based that the rim is taller but also wider and that is on the wider tire (275 vs 265). When a tire is put on a wider rim the profile height is reduced. Think of it like a balloon when you push in the sides the balloon get...

2015 Ram Mega Cab hitch clearence

I though Heartland had a patent on their nose cap that allowed trucks with a short bed to use a regular hitch and not a slider? We went with the 8 foot bed for we wanted more storage area when we are on the road but the dealer (La Mesa) kept on selling that we could have a Mega Cab and still use...

Leaking Ice Maker - Residential Refrigerator

In our Ashland it was outside underneath the slide with the refer. We drain the line to winterize but because it was outside and made of cheap plastic it self destructed when it froze. leveling fifth to tow vehicle

Did you hook up the 5th wheel to the truck and see what it looks like loaded? As far as the wheels are concerned the tire diameter is what you need to look at. Many times when they go to bigger wheels they also go with a shorter tire profile so all things equal out.

    Ceiling Fan

We have a ceiling fan in our Landmark and we have tried running it both ways. Really does not move much air. One of the issues are the blades are just inches from the ceiling so the is no space to push or pull air. Your air conditioner should have both output vents pushing cold air and input...

Where can I order the Sikken paint for my RV?

I had a blow out that required me to repair the metal skirt by the entry door and on part of the slide. I did all the repairs and they look great. Keeps blowing 15 amp 12 volt fuse

Dan - great minds think alike. I just downloaded all the documents. Looks like the EMS only controls the compressor and does not control the thermostat or fan. There does seem to be a shedding feedback to the thermostat so that it does not get an error when it tries to power the compressor and...

Dan - Today I am only going to have the one AC running and everything else off. I am also going to get a detailed diagram on how the EMS sheds the AC units. This weekend I...

Keeps blowing 15 amp 12 volt fuse

Dan - you are right the Air Conditioners are controlled by the EMS through the panel by using 12 volt relays. The EMS actually sheds or controls the fan and the compressors using different 12 volt relays. That is why it will turn on the fans but wait two minutes to start up the compressor. It...

Keeps blowing 15 amp 12 volt fuse

Dan - I think you are on to something. Based on what I can see the Air Cond. panels do energize relays that control the 110V to the fan and the compressor of the AC. Still do not understand if the EMS cuts the 110V or the 12 DC when it sheds something but you gave me a place to start. Thanks - Fred

We just came back from a two week vacation in the Ashland and besides the battery charger breaker having to be reset we had no issues. Hitches are Heavy - How to Routinely Install/Remove????

In my case I don't. I assume one day I will but that will be the day I get three of my neighbors to come over and help me lift it out. Have not had to haul big items that require the full bed. Mainly plants, 4 by 4 posts and some bags of cement. In all cases they fit fine with the hitch in the bed.

    2500 vs 3500 SRW

Is this a TT or a 5th wheel? If it is a 5th wheel then go with the 3500. I have a Ram 3500 dually and I drive it everyday. Yes it is big and yes I always park in the back of parking lots but I get more exercise that way. When hauling a trailer, especially a 5th wheel having the 3500 dually makes...
