Loved my 05 f250 as well. My 06 f350 makes it a little easier to forget [emoji1]
I'll be upgrading to the 2017 as well...in about 6-8 years [emoji23]

Having your camper plugged into the truck will only give you 12v power, not 110v needed for the heater. As far as the door, you could fill the gap with some pipe insulation (or pool noodle) until it stops raining or until you can get it fixed correctly

On a ford 6.0 diesel between 05-07, my unscientific polling of members on the ford truck forums, 4x4 members averaged 13.5-14 mpg (mixed) and 2wd members averaged 15-15.5.
The newer models probably have different results

I have a 2wd dually. I did a lot of looking before I found the one I wanted. I have not had a situation where I needed 4wd yet. However, not having it may be a problem one day as I park my camper on the side of my house. If it rains heavily, I may not be able to get it back in.
My choice for...
I agree with Don. We are considering getting an upgrade to our elkridge. It's ok but we would like a higher end unit. There sure seems to be more and more of these types of posts about poor quality in the heartland units. We will be looking at other brands as well

I'm guessing you'll be getting a 6.0 trans cooler? I added one to our old Excursion and it really worked much better than the tiny stock one

Diamondjim-
It's really easy to hook up. Only two wires. I soldered mine into the vanity light on the visor. You could tie into some wiring in the overhead console. Also, you do not need to be brand or model specific when you go to the junkyard. If your truck offered the option, you might have...
I changed the oil. I also added a homelink module to the visor so I can open my gate and garage doors without the remotes. My truck didn't come with it so I got a visor off an f150 from the junk yard. I took it apart and removed the module from it. I knew my visor had a space for it so I was...
FTE=Ford Truck Enthusiasts. It's a forum for all Ford trucks and has a wealth of information about common problems, mods, etc.
Yes, it was very difficult parting with the Ex. Still wish we had it

You've obviously spent some time on FTE [emoji1]. I used to have an excursion with the 7.3. I did a lot of the same mods. Loved that vehicle. But, since we got a fifth wheel, the wife didn't want to drive it every day so we sold it. [emoji22]

Congrats on your new rig! That's the same dealer I've bought all my Rv's from. Billie Mac is great. The sales team also great. Service dept stinks. Used to have a lady that was very nice as the service manager but knew nothing about how Rv's go together. She was replaced by another lady. She had...
Yesterday I rotated the tires. A lot of work to DIY. Especially since it's a dually. Plus, it was hot. Houston's high temp was 93F yesterday. Next time I'm taking it to the tire shop to do the rotation!

I don't have an inverted but I'm fairly certain the inverter powers the fridge, the battery powers the lights and the inverter. Some folks that install their own inverter may have it hooked up to power something else but usually it is only for the fridge

Hope your insurance claim works out for you. I'm sure you're anxious to get your new rig and move on. Just think, now Malcolm will have lots of opportunities to modify things on the new rig[emoji1]
