Desert thumper posted this link in the thread about the fifth wheel prep package http://media.chrysler.com/newsrelease.do?&id=14487&mid=71. It looks like late first early second quarter of 2014 availability.
I'm waiting for this before I order too. There is still no word on price. My big...
I'm not positive but it could be a conflict between the bed height/width with the Ram box vs what clearance you'd need to clear a fifth wheel. If you're using the build and price feature on the Ram website just be aware they block certain options/combos depending on factory build schedules...
Thanks for that link. It confirms what I'd heard about the softer springs. I'm not too keen on it being a 2nd Q of 2014 release. That screams March or April at the soonest.

Al, those pictures speak a thousand words. I can barely get my 05 Ram to squat no matter what I haul.
The only reason I'm holding out for the factory bags is the talk that they will run the truck level when unloaded instead of rear high. Supposedly they are tweaking the rear suspension to run...
I really wanted the copperhead but it's not available yet. I'm leaning toward the darker blue/Grey combo Laramie. Our current Ram is the maroon and I'd like something new.
There is no official word on when it's an orderable option. My dealer hasn't heard rumors and there isn't much on the...
Like you wouldn't believe. The good news is I'm only checking the Ram website once a week instead of daily to see if the suspension is orderable. Its so bad my dealer is sending me weekly emails.
Your truck looks darn good there. Love the white.

I've had it since 2007. I've forgotten the capacity but assumed it was slightly under the gvw or pin on the cyclone. Now I'll need to call B&W with my serial.

At least if I go with the factory prep the installer would t need to cut the factory lined bed and the wire socket will be there. It's not like I can use my current companion hitch. Now if only Ram would hurry up and release the air suspension so I can order my truck.

I've always thought I was pretty tech savvy when it came to audio video at home. I have not kept up with the streaming side of things (mostly because of slow Internet out in the country).
What would be the best way to share content from multiple devices to multiple tvs? If I wanted to send...
You may want to check some of the big truck stops in your area. My local truck wash charges less than a buck a foot for RV washing. Many offer detail service as well, so I bet they can quote you for a hand wax too.
As someone that is in a similar boat (I'm shopping for a new truck and a 4000 Cyclone) I can tell you that none of the Ram truck SRW configurations will be within the limits of the 4100. The payload on the 2500s and SRW 3500s is too low for the anticipated pin weight of the 18K Cyclones. Your...
When you say vapor barrier door are you talking about a hinged door? I'm curious to see how that works out. We are planning to order a 4000 soon.

I'm 6'4" and can stand very comfortably in the sunken tub on the cyclone. I don't remember exactly but the ceiling was at least half a foot above my head. I know what you mean about the shower. It's a deal breaker for me. Too many of the other brands only have 6' showers and expect taller people...
I'll jump in with yet another vote for B&W. Six years and counting with only one problem. I cross threaded a bolt. B&W replaced both parts I mucked up for free when I called to ask where to buy new ones. After emphasizing to the woman that I messed it up she said she understood and shipped...
The 4200 is back up on Heartland 's website. The bedroom/bathroom is detailed with the rest blacked out. There appears to be something interesting on the door side.

I need friends with loaders and crane trucks :D. I can't wait to see pictures when it's finished. Looks great!

I called B&W the other day to ask about plans for an oem hitch for the Ram. They told me there are no current plans to make anything like they did for the Ford.
I'm beginning to think I'd be better off ordering the truck without the prep package and installing the traditional B&W setup...
I'm assuming they have ruled out the toy haulers? I've got a bunkhouse now and wouldn't originally consider toy haulers. Now that I've seen the light I wouldn't even think about a bunkhouse or second bedroom model. I was originally turned off by all the racing and motorsport themes in toy...
In California, at least, you are allowed 108 inches sidewall to sidewall for rvs. Our vehicle code specifically exempts appurtenances that don't extend more than 6 inches (VC 35103). Ladders awnings vents and what not. As long as they don't carry "load". I don't know about other states but...
Folsom Lake would be one of the only areas I'd consider. There are several camping areas in the Delta, but you're a good hour from downtown. Auburn has a quiet, nice campground. Folsom will be more like "camping". Auburn used to be a KOA, but is now an independent private CG. I would stay...
How is soap and water from a shower an environmental issue. If that were the case California of all places woukd ban septic tanks. Knock on wood my septic tank is still allowed.
I think it's rude to dump a full grey tank next to camping neighbors. But done respectfully of your neighbors or...
I ran a piece of 1/4" 2x2 angle iron between the frame rails. That allowed the rear JT arms to run straight off the bracket and meet in the middle of the trailer. If you call JT they can give you the exact measurements and placement of the angle iron. The angle iron is bolted to the bottom of...
Yes, the total combo length law didn't change. It just worded the new law to say a "fifth wheel travel trailer" can be up to 48 feet. The rocket surgeons at DMV claimed a "fifth wheel travel trailer" was not a "semi trailer." Since they wouldn't call it a semi trailer, it couldn't be any...
I'd look closer at the Thunderbolt. It looks like it's a bath-n-a-half as well. If seven people really need to shower, the lack of full baths won't be your limiting factor, but your water heater will be. Unless you go full custom, I doubt you'll find a model with two full baths. You could...
I called a few dealers that stocked the trailers, and none had even heard of the registration fiasco. Every dealer up in the Sacramento area was well aware. I assume the local DMV offices followed suit.
That was the main "reasoning" behind the bill. DMV incorrectly ruled a particular...
If you go with the command stuff follow the directions to clean the surface to a tee. I've lost some hooks that I didn't clean the surface with alcohol. I haven't lost any that I cleaned properly.
I know what you mean about the TV. My son watches movies but that's about all we use it for. The...
That's what we ended up doing to hang our hand and dish towels. We got the over the cabinet door hooks and put them all over the place. The other thing we used are the command strips. Those double sided tape hooks that stick like they are part of the wall until you pull a tab. They even make...
I really like that slide. We do a lot of camping on the coast in the winter and see a lot of rain. I'd love to be able to slide my stove back inside the trailer to keep it dry. Thanks for posting.
This will only likely be of interest to those currently shopping for the longer fivers in California. As some of you know DMV incorrectly ruled that fivers over 40 feet were illegal to register in California, closing the door to many Heartland trailers (the 4000 Cyclone) in my case. Many...
Enforcement may be limited in some areas, or even non-existent. However, what one LEO may or may not enforce does not apply state or even department wide. The reality is that most LEOs are not looking to stop RVers, and most RVers will never run into the commercial officers or the officers...
I don't think it's the deputies anyone needs to worry about. Show me a deputy that knows the difference between 12500(d) and 12951 and I'll show you a deputy that works a contract city LOL.
If I had my way everything I drove would be diesel. I've got a 2012 Wrangler, and was really hoping the diesel rumors were true before I bought. I toss around the idea of converting my '68 Bronco to diesel. I think my next sedan will be a diesel VW, or the like. If I was in the market for a...
Tail swing is a big deal, and can push the rear end out several feet. The closer the axles are to the middle, the more swing you'll get. I always hate making a right turn when there are cars next to me. A good way to get an idea of your trailer's actual swing is to take a few traffic cones to...
Porthole,
Is that because the price points are different but they come with similar equipment?
I liked a few of the RW plans at first but more research showed tank capacity, bed size or just closer looks at the plans keep me away.

Re: Well, it's time to ask about the 4200 again???
I'm curious to know what they mean by hidden garage. I'm still doing to know what the 4200 will be. It's really hard day dreaming about the 4000 knowing the 4200 may be better. I just hope the details get released before I pull the trigger on a...
