We'll be heading up to the northern Calif coast first week of May, a distance of 475 miles. This will be our first long trip. Is it a reasonable expectation to think I can do this drive in one day? We're towing our 181 with an 08' Silverado 1500. I'm thinking about 10 hours.

Has anyone done a repack on they're wheel bearings? We've had our 181 since Oct 2010 and I'm thinking it's time to check them. I'm not the handiest character when it comes to this sort of thing, but from my snooping around the internet, it looks do-able. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

David, your fix is exactly what I did shortly after buying our 181 in 2010. The L bracket works great and no more annoying gap between the table and wall. Shoot...I've since even removed the other leg...

I ended up taking our 181 to a local canvass / boat cover shop. They made a very high quality, heavy duty cover with a perfect fit, using Sunbrella material. It was pricey but I'm glad I did it. Our trailer looks as good as the day we bought it almost two years ago and it stays nice and clean...

Good for you. I must have missed them when I did my looking 16 months ago. I ended up with a custom job from a local canvas shop. It's very high quality but it was expensive. No regrets, however. Our 181 stays nice and clean between trips. It looks as good as the day we bought it!

We have no igniter on our 2010 180 and therefore no clicking sound... we just use a lighter stick.

Definitely a good idea to add the trani cooler. They're not expensive and really do help the engine run cooler. I would think a Highlander would be very capable of towing an MPG, even without a tow package. You can usually get the tow rating by putting your VIN into a decoder, or checking...

Yeah, the kitchen drawers keep slipping of the alum. angles. Such a simple thing but seemingly not important enough for the factory to do right. I have a buddy in the RV biz...he says it's a totally unregulated industry. Going to use your fix on our 181.

I have a Yamaha and I would not recommend it. I had a custom cover made at a local canvas shop for our MPG 181. A bit pricey, but I'm glad I did it...RV's take a beating in the sun here in SoCal.

Good for you! We got our 181 about six weeks ago and our first trip was great. I'm an old backpacker / tent camper, too, and I must say, our first trip was nice, warm, dry and restful. We're new to RV'ing, so there's lots to learn and I'm sure we'll get a bit more organized each time we venture...

Yeah...I agree..there's not a great deal of room for an awning. The tent arrangement they offer is nice, but way too expensive for my budget and it looks like a hassle to set it up. I haven't done any real diligence on the awning yet but it's definitely the direction I want to go. I do know...

Sorry for the late response. We don't use the dinette for a bed, so the table stay's up except when traveling. In the up position, the inside (wall side) table leg stay's folded up with the table edge resting on the L channel that I mounted to the wall. This way, there is no longer a gap between...

We just purchased our 181 six weeks ago. We've only been out once, but I never saw any light coming through. Thus far, we really like this TT. Looking forward to our second outing next weekend. If you get one, I don't think you'll be disapointed.

I would think a 4runner get get the job done nicely. These TT's are very light. Even fully loaded (but without water), I'm well under 3600lbs with our 181. I'm towing with an old GMC Sierra (91'). So far, so good...it handles the load with ease. I know what you mean about tight storage issues...

Hi Dan, If you do ask for two more jacks, make sure they're good one's. The jacks that came with our 181, while sufficient for this small TT, are really cheapo. I'm going to remove them and add four of a higher quality, given that one has already broken (the nut sheared).

We were able to get all of our folding clothes onto a pantry shelf each (a week of clothes). The hanging stuff went on a bar I rigged up in the truck. It worked out fine and we had 2 shelves left for dry goods in the pantry.
