New Bighorn 3670RL with Airsafe Hitch

Oh, we have been lurking around for a long time... my investigation of "retirement" RVs has been going on for a few years now... ask Jim Beletti as I bug him all the time with questions... we are now less than 6 months away from retirement and the house goes on the market at the end of the...

New Bighorn 3670RL with Airsafe Hitch

I have a 25k Airsafe hitch in my '09 Ford F450 with a Retrax roll top tonneau and at the setting the hitch is at now, the cover clears the head by about 3" when closed. Now, the only problem is I don't yet have a Heartland product... but the hitch adjusts about about 20" from top to bottom and...

    A/C not working

I had the same problem with mine after the 5er had sat for awhile... (like 2-3 weeks)... the fan motor would sorta seize up... I could remove the inside ceiling panel and spin the squirrel cage fan and the AC would work fine until the next time I let it sit... Talked with Coleman and they said...

    Landmark Oakmont

:confused:They gotta stop this... how do they expect us to make a choice if they keep coming out with new (and great) floorplans before we are ready to buy??????:D (yeah I know...get off the dime, retire and buy the Landmark of our choosing now ;))

    Bonnaroo Bound

Bummer, well I hope by the time you read this you are in Manchester, TN, groovin' to the music... Hate to hear that about the truck as the F450 is the one I have my sites set on next year when I retire to pull my new Landmark... well maybe by 2010 (the year model I hope to be ordering) or late...

Wish we were.. but, alas, already used up my spring/early summer vacation time... I see you are in Long Beach, MS. My daughter/son-in-law/grandkids lived there up until about 8 months ago... they moved north (Perkinston, MS, area) after Katrina convinced them they wanted to be on higher...

Spotted a Landmark & Bighorn in Chattanooga

On our way to Gettysburg, we stopped at a rv park in Chattanooga and spotted a Bighorn and a Landmark Pinehurst. While we didn't catch the folks in the Bighorn, we met and talked with "oldschool" (from the forum and we are soooooooooooo bad with names I am not going to attempt to state their...

    Diesel Prices

Stopped by Sam's Club on the way home today from delivering some yard sale items, and they were having an "open house"... Diesel was priced at $3.959... rest of this area is $4.059-4.199... filled up the truck as far as I could get fuel into the filler neck.. may be the "cheapest" I will see for...

    Met Ron from Heartland...

Thanks Mark, and you can be sure, we will have lots of questions and will be watching the forums for folk's reactions/likes/dislikes/modifications, etc to the new Landmarks... The Augusta we saw at the show had the Slate interior... they also had a Cape Cod and at least one Bighorn with the...

    camping in texas

When were you at Laughlin? I was stationed at Randolph from 1964-72 and taught in both undergraduate and instructor pilot training in T-38s... well almost, I was an enlisted flight sim instructor during that time. Did the same thing at Reese AFB, from '72 to '75 before getting in to computers...

    Diesel Prices

All this just in time for my trip to Gettysburg. PA, in May... round trip with a side excursion to Richmond, VA, should be about 2500+ miles.. pulling my 5er I am budgeting $1000+ for fuel... luckily I am doing this in conjunction with a training seminar so I will get reimbursed the majority of...

    Diesel Prices

It's running 3.79-3.85 here (lower Alabama), I expect $4 or above by next week at the rate of change and the price of oil.. B20 Bio is the same... I run B20 about every other tank.. probably averages out at B10 with that mix.. my '03 CTD has no problem with it and does run generally quieter...

    Diesel Prices

At the speed and rate of increase we are experiencing due to all the "factors" (Venezuela, OPEC, weak dollar, a camel stubbing it's toe somewhere, etc) that the commodity speculators use to drive the price up, I suspect my budget of $8.00 a gallon in '09 when I retire won't be far off... of...

    Explore USA (Kyle,Tx)

Just as an aside from someone who has just visited a couple of ExploreUSA locations. How would rising gas prices effect your camping?

Right now our 5er is parked (we are semi-permanent-seasonal) at a campground about 45 miles from my house, so I am not using any fuel for camping... BUT... I have budgeted for $850 a month for fuel when we go full-time in '09... if fuel is $8.50 a gal and I can get 10 mpg, then we will go...

I tow a 30' Cedar Creek Silverback that (with my truck full of fuel and two people and a dog) scales at ~17,200lbs with a '03 2500 LWB CTD.. the particular design on my 5er only puts about ~1600 lbs of pin on the truck and 8300 on the axles loaded for a week of camping... with these weights in...

    Went 5er "Comparing" last weekend

Maybe I shouldn't say this too loud as Heartland might raise their prices ;) , but we didn't have anything to do last Saturday so we hit a couple of RV dealers in the local area for some "comparison" shopping.. We looked at some fairly "high-end" units that bring 20-40k more than the Landmarks...

    Getting ready for winter

Since I keep my 5er at a campground year-round, we wrapped our water hose with foam insulation (I like the idea of the rope light and will keep that in mind when or if we end up in colder climates)... of course, since we are only 10 miles off the Gulf of Mexico, it doesn't get below freezing...
