Tore roof on tree limb... Doh!!!

Yessir, that is a very good idea - and a hard lesson to learn . . . I'll be doing this from now on if it isn't 100% obvious driving in. I have a few warranty items as well, nothing major, so a Heartland dealer is a plus for me. We don't need to stay in it, but we were gonna park it at a...

Tore roof on tree limb... Doh!!!

Thanks everyone! Yes we are in Houston, but would travel within 200-250 miles to make sure we get a good job done. I'll probably start with Ron Hoover since they are local, but will check out all the other recommendations!

Tore roof on tree limb... Doh!!!

I think at least a little blame goes to the campground manager who put us somewhere I never should have been put in a 40ft fifth wheel, and couldn't tell that til I got back in there. Decided not to stay and did it pulling out of that section (different "road" and couldn't turn around). Anyway...

What infrared temp gun are folks using?

Used one of these several years back but they were not very accurate without some exact settings that had to be changed for every surface you wanted to check the temp on. Hopefully that's not the case anymore???

    Dallas RV Supershow Sept 13-16

Thanks for the pic! Will have to give 'em a call and see if I can buy one of those mounting "brackets" as that is VERY similar to what/how I was thinking of doing it.

Thanks for the pic's Erika! I prefer the old rear cap to the new one - glad we got our Bighorn prior to the change.

Level-Up System Zero Setting The Control

Not Porthole, but I just did mine a couple of weeks ago. I used the auto-level function when we set-up on Friday night, but I could tell we were not quite level. Next morning I adjusted it manually with all legs down, then went through the calibration procedure just as Porthole posted. I have...

Level-Up System Zero Setting The Control

Just reset mine a couple of weeks ago. It worked with the rear legs down for me. Also seemed to calibrate front to rear and side to side just fine.

    Slides for rear chairs

Great mod! Thanks for the info and pic's. I checked with Flair - the "frisbees" are price $26 each now, so over $70 shipped for a pair now - ouch! I'll be swinging into Home Depot today to take find some of the furniture slides myself.

    New 3585

If you're talking kitchen storage, I'd think it wouldn't be much different. Looks like they'd put the two deep drawers where the counter slid into the slide with the "L" shaped counter. That and the outter storage in the corner of the "L" should be the only differences in cabinets I would think.

    Triple check your tire pressure

No problem - I researched for many hours to learn how the F350's TPMS works as it drove me crazy to have that light constantly on, and I wasn't about to run around town with 80psi in the rears. I went back to the dealer, and the service mgr starts telling how they can't do it, etc. Luckily the...

New Bighorn 3585RL - first impressions, etc

Just wanted to add another quick update. After emailing with Kary and Jim, Flair contacted me and sent me two new recliner handles which had different/longer screws. Also found that the original handles were not installed correctly. They have now been replaced and have much less "slop" and...

    What's your favorite carry weapon?

I have really come to love Kahrs since I got my CHL. Started with the Kahr PM40 and just purchased it's big brother, a Kahr P40, for when I can conceal a little larger pistol. The PM40 is a handful (pun intended), but can be carried in my shorts pocket, etc., in hot weather.

    Triple check your tire pressure

This only works for changing tire positions (front to rear, and vice versa) when rotating tires since the fronts and rears have different settings so the truck knows which sensors are on the front and which are on the rear. It doesn't actually allow you to change the actual settings.
  20. RCF

    Triple check your tire pressure

Your F350 should have a TPMS system, and it should be set to alarm at 68psi for the rears and about 55psi for the fronts (alarms at 15% low with 80psi as the base rear setting and 65psi as the base front setting, at least for the SRW's). I know because I do not run 80psi in the rears unless...

Bedroom A/c noise on 3670 Bighorn

Hmmm, I can hear my bedroom a/c over the living room a/c . . . when sitting in the living room! I read all the threads about it being loud, but, being in TX, a 2nd a/c is almost mandatory about 5 months of the year! And I never imagined it was THIS LOUD from those threads.

Bedroom A/c noise on 3670 Bighorn

Well, I finally found something positive to say about the loudness of the bedroom a/c! Where we are camped right now (Jellystone park in Waller, TX), dove season is in full gear and it sounds like a war zone in the early morning all around. My wife pointed out that the a/c drowns out the...

Using 120V adapter to plug into GFCI receptacle

Just brought the BH home tonight from storage and plugged in to house GFCI outlet on porch using an extension cord, the 15A triangle adaptor and a 50A to 30A adaptor. Worked fine for me, only thing running is fridge so we can put the food in tomorrow prior to heading out for the weekend.

    New 3585

Aha! Well, I'm glad we got our 3585 prior to the island kitchen, as the L shaped counter was one of the things we really like about the 3585. The couch and recliners being swapped . . . hmmm, might like that but not 100% sure yet.

    Sofa air bed defect

Sorry for the troubles with it, as I can sympathize. It does sound like something was wrong with it, as we had a Flair couch/air mattress in our previous SOB TT and never had an issues with 4yrs of fairly regular useage. As much as it would tick me off to have to replace it after only 3-4...

Tow Max Blowout and Cyclone Damage

Sorry for sidetracking the thread . . . FYI for all, the only reason I brought up the speed rating of the G614 is because if you use the table Dan mentioned and linked, you can deduct that since the G614 is rated for 75mph, it's load rating should be higher when traveling at speeds less than...

Advice with Selecting Hitch for Silverado 3500HD SRW/3585rl

FYI - The Superglide is not much more $ than the Reese Elite + Ford factory 5th wheel prep (and a bit less $ if your truck is not a Ford or doesn't have the Ford OEM prep kit), takes up no more room, has a spring to eliminate side-to-side play when not towing, is quiet and is completely...

Tow Max Blowout and Cyclone Damage

No. At the top of that same page, it says "In addition, the Tire and Rim Association also permits operating a 65 mph rated tire at higher speeds with a reduced load and increased inflation." The G614 is rated at 75mph already, not 65mph.

Tow Max Blowout and Cyclone Damage

Dan, The G614 is rated at 75mph at it's listed max load rating (http://www.goodyear.com/cfmx/web/truck/line.cfm?prodline=160007, then click "tire spec's"). Other tires are rated at 65mph, but can be raised to higher mph by giving up load rating (the tables specifically say that it is for...

Tow Max Blowout and Cyclone Damage

To be clear, nowhere in my post did I condone, recommend or even mention actually towing at 75mph, which I do not do. Dan mentioned safety margin - was just letting him know there's actually a little more margin there than he thought he had.

    What is this for???

In my "owner's manual and documents kit" that I got from my dealer with the new Bighorn, is a flexible 1/4" hex "bit" maybe 8-10" long? Like for using with a cordless drill, etc. Anyone know if this was included for a specific purpose? Is it for the hydraulic pump? thanks!!!
  36. RCF

Tow Max Blowout and Cyclone Damage

Dan, the info I found on Goodyear's website shows the "G" rated G614 tires are rated for 75mph - hopefully that adds to your comfort level a little bit! :)

Advice with Selecting Hitch for Silverado 3500HD SRW/3585rl

Re: Advice with Selecting Hitch for Silverado 350HD SRW/3585rl This is exactly what I did, and i'm pretty sure my Ford is taller than a Chevy. I went with the 18k Superglide, and, while I haven't towed alot with it yet, it seems very solid and locks the pin in nice and tight, minimal slop.

Got my Progressive Industries EMS wired in!!!

Man, it took me awhile. Obviously my BH 3585RL was not as easily accessible underneath as some other models - I felt like a contortionist at times! I used two 18" 50A extensions, cut 'em in half and wired one male and female end to the EMS, and one half of the other on the incoming line, and...

Anyone installed a car stereo for the outdoor speakers???

That would be too easy! I already have a car stereo from a couple of vehicles ago, and I like the thought of something "built-in". I picked up a piece of thin sheet metal yesterday at Home Depot and bent it to fit. Will work on finding wiring, etc. today and looking at mounting location...
