Pulling an MPG with Ford Explorer

I respect your opinion....but those vehicles in Europe have brakes just like ours! They have mountains, pavement, highways, etc over there just like we do! Your profile shows a very nice, heavy duty tandem axle 5th wheel and heavy duty truck, both of which are in a different league than the MPG...

    A couple of ?

The sump for the winterizing hose on our 185 is under the right side bench...open one valve and close the other, place the hose in the bottle, open the faucets, turn the pump on......SLURRRRP.... turn the pump off, turn off the faucets, close the one valve and open the other, and done.

Considering the MPG 183, but now concerned...

Scare tactics. I towed the same trailer with a similar vehicle, personally, and had zero problems or concerns. I assume that that Honda would stop approximately as well as my Chevrolet, which was pretty darn good. Internet experts are always willing to tell you what cannot be done that they...

Considering the MPG 183, but now concerned...

"The Honda's tow capacity is 3500 pounds . . . and the MPG 183 shipping weight is 3800 pounds . . . GVWR is 3500 pounds. You'll need a bigger vehicle to tow your family safely, I'm sorry to say." Probably too late to make a difference....FWIW, I towed our MPG with a 2008 Chevy Uplander minivan...

thinking about purchasing a mpg either the 180, 181 or 184 model.

I love mine, but kids outgrew it. Have done some pretty neat mods to it, nothing dumb (in my opinion) Great write up and detailed pics at KSL.com - classifieds - travel trailers - bumper pull.

    home made canopy

That's pretty cool. Here's ours, works great! Find some "Kedder Rail" online and have a leather shop sew it to a tarp, and you are good to go. I was going to mount the supports to the RV, but that seemed like a whole magnitude larger project. Somewhere on the internet I saw that someone had...

Pulling an MPG with Ford Explorer

I had no problems towing with a 2008 Chevy Uplander - in the the intermountain west....Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, etc. Don't overload, and you should be fine....the explorer is more suited than the Uplander...people worry alot about these things and overkill it to death. Look at what they tow...

    New Awning Idea?

Hatterascal, I came across the Paha Que visor last year while researching awnings on the interweb. I am intrigued by the concept and think it holds promise. If you get one and try it out, please let us know what the outcome is, 265 is a little steep for me to experiment with...

    ATF: MPG - Slideout Stops

For future reference, the slideout is manufactured by Happijac. http://www.happijac.com/index.php/products/slide-outs They have a very helpful customer service department. They were able to correct the shortcomings of the factory installation. There is an aluminum threshold inboard of...

    Wet seats in Wyoming

I replaced the AC with a roof hatch, sealed with Butyl Tape and Dicor lap sealant. I added a 10" x 20" fiberglass side hatch and removed the microwave oven. I installed a 6K BTU window air conditioner where the microwave formerly was. It is mounted internally, vibration isloated with 1" of...

    Wet seats in Wyoming

I dug through my pile of removed MPG bits to examine the AC. Dave is correct, I had misspoke in an earlier post. There is a foam rubber gasket about 1" thick glued to the bottom of the AC, in addition to a couple of foam blocks of the same material and thickness. Reviewing the Dometic guide...

    Wet seats in Wyoming

Dude, that's a bummer. Here is my experience and hopefully it will help. In 2012 I purchased my 2011 185 for significantly less than retail. What do I know about travel trailers? The original owners had it for less than a year and were taking a LARGE hit on price - caveat emptor. The...

    ATF: MPG - Slideout Stops

Little help please! There are two rails which the slideout rides upon. At the end of each rail is a bifurcated tang which is bent at about a 15 degree angle. One of the rails has a stop which is adjustable, it is aluminum and mounts via a set screw. The other rail looks like it formerly also...

Picking up my MPG 184 this weekend ...

Congratulations on the MPG! We towed our 185 with a 2008 Chevy Uplander (extended wheelbase). If you are familiar with "the sisters" on I-80 in western Wyoming or the Arizona strip on I-15 south of St. George, or Utah Rt 39 over the Monte Cristo range, as a reference, the Uplander performed...

    Fiberglass MPG Roof badly oxidized??

There are no stickers on the roof. My MPG had extreme oxidation from the points on the front and back surfaces where the curve has any horizontal aspect. The (vertical) sides where the stickers are had no problem. By the way, I used 3M marine restorer and then 3M marine fiberglass wax. I...

parts language - awning cable channel

I purchased this stuff: http://www.rvworkshop.com/index.php/products/10-awning-bead It fits the track on my 2011 MPG. If my research is correct, some MPGs might have different diameter Keder Rail installed. Please note that you will need to find somebody with an industrial type sewing machine...

    Fiberglass MPG Roof badly oxidized??

My 2011 MPG also has some pretty severe oxidation. First question, is it that big of a deal? Other than the cosmetic implications, will the oxidation have consequences for the longevity of my TT?

    Is your MPG roof oxidized?

marc, I also have a 2011 MPG with severe oxidation on the horizontal surfaces. At first I thought it was an anti-skid coating....nope! Should this happen on a two year old trailer? Have you come up with a fix? I really like my MPG and would like her to stick around for a while.......

    Is Dome Awning Still Available?

You can purchase mine. I have never used it, just pulled it out of the bag and (arghhh!) stuffed it bag in to look at it. I am the second owner, the previous owner said he did the same, including the (arghhh!). By the way, I have almost finished my own bag awning....5x7.
