    Rally has started

Dave and all, Sorry I couldn't make it this year, just started a new job a couple weeks ago and things have been a little too hectic here and couldn't get the time off. Hopefully next fall I'll have time off saved up so I can make it a long weekend, it sure was nice last year after the biker's...

    Exhaust soot on trailer

I've got a 4 inch turbo back Magnaflow exhaust system on my Ram, only using a Hypertech programmer on the engine and get very little soot on the front of the trailer. I do however get a lot on the rear lower corner of the bed and corner of the bumper and on the exhaust tip.

    Fuel Prices Finally Coming Down

Saw 4.29 here in VA today.. get it while you can.. you know what is coming up in a couple weeks, the holiday that is always used as an excuse to raise prices and keep them higher all winter while they switch to home heating oil:(

    RV Capital Wholesalers

From what I've seen on the dealers site that is in Danville, VA I doubt you'll do much better on price than them. Kinda makes me wish they had been handling Heartland last year when I bought mine....

New Tires for My Tow Vehicle

I took the OEM Michelins off my Ram when they had 45K on them, they were terrible on wet roads IMO. Got a set of Goodyear Silent Armor's, they are the best wet weather tire I've had yet. Even with my Cummins cranked up and nothing in the bed I can barely get them to lose traction on a wet road...

    Crazy Idea

My problem is, I've got a ton of ideas but no one will let me make a living using them....LOL I could think up a huge list of little items that would make for nice options to have on a trailer....some of them have never been used as far as I know.

    windows opening

There are times when I have to really slide my one living room window open and slam it a bit to make sure it is fully seated so it will lock. Nothing in the track and I've tried to put a little lube on it, but it still is tight in the tracks and takes a solid push to move it to open or close it...

    Crazy Idea

I like them both, but I do have one tiny pet peeve I'd like to share if that's OK. If it were up to me, I'd prefer just the one sliding door in the hallway to access the bathroom. If I had one of this type flooplan, the second door in the bathroom would normally remain closed anyways. Replace...

    Crazy Idea

The older Montanas and Fleetwood models I saw with the front living room all placed the "stool room' door right next to the dinette.. not a good idea IMO. If they had put in an enclosed bathroom in the rear bedroom with the door opening into the bedroom they might have sold a lot more units. And...

    roadway paint overspray

If you can find it in a hardware store, try the Industrial Strength Goof Off aerosol. It's a bit stronger than Goo Gone, but not as harsh as laquer thinner IMO.

Landmark Sighted in St. Ignace, MI

I got back the 16th from a week long trip to Michigan and the only Heartland product I saw on the outbound trip was a Sundance TT set of for a seasonal at Pirolli Park where I stayed for a week and never saw anyone around it. On the way home I did spot a Bighorn on the PA Turnpike headed west...

    Sansui TV doesn't work

Try it the way Jim suggests....if you still have nothing, try connecting to the "satellite" input. I fought my Sundance for an hour (new Vizeo TV that has the slowest channel search ever) and found that they had connected the cables to the wrong jacks in the wall plate. Definately make sure...

    Can you simplify the forum

Also noticed we now have 2 Recipe sections? I didn't want to say anything, but it is a bit aggravating now with the amount of scrolling you have to do since all the new sub sections have been added..too many sub sections for redundant info is gonna be very confusing to say the least. When the...

    Sundance mods

Dunno about the stain he used, but the faucet looks almost exactly like the Moen faucet I picked up at Lowe's and put in my Sundance. I put one in the house and like it so well I went back and bought a second one for the new 5er.

    Sidewall R-Factor

I believe the R factor included the sheeting and outer skin that is used to make the composite wall. The R value is just for the insulation itself that is used in the wall construction. Anytime you add sheets of OSB, plywood, filon or similar they do have a minimal R value which is then added...

    2009 3012 Re?

Tazzy, one of the things you can do is like I did when I was trying to decide on the 3012RE. Go on RVTrader and do an advanced search for the exact models you want to compare, you should come up with a number of them that you can view pictures of the exact model you are interested in with...

    Diesel Prices

3.89 for diesel here in VA, while gas is holding at 3.15 for at least the third day in a row (must be a new record). Didn't go check on the price of B20 since I'd have to drive nearly 25 miles just to buy it. No matter what B20 is, it's still not gonna be a cheap fill up.

    Something Everybody Needs To Check!

After I helped Joseph fix the lost bolt in his Big Horn at the Southeast Rally, I checked my Sundance which was only a couple months old and only on it's second camping trip. Both locking nuts were loose as the bolts hadn't been tightened enough to get into the locking portion of the nut. I...

    Travel bars

I haven't used them in my 3012 either. If I didn't need them on I-81 thru PA, there's a good chance you'll never need them... I put about 2500 miles on mine in two trips last summer with no need for them.

    Diesel Boys, check those batteries!

I don't tow or camp as much as the rest of you, but my 01 Ram is still on the original batteries.

    Somewhere Under The Rainbow

I took this pic in May 05 at our local race track during the Brian Redmon Vintage Races... Good thing I didn't get my TT in the pic as this was before I had a Heartland product....

    slider hitch, one more time

With the Mega Cab I think I'd err on the side of caution and get a manual slide hitch. You may never need it, but the one time you do, you'll be glad you spend a couple hundred extra bucks to save you from a 1K or more repair bill on the truck. The bed of the Mega Cab I believe is actually a...

    Prospective buyer with questions

My Sundance and all the others at my selling dealer had Goodyear Marathons (unfortunately made in China), but since none of the trailers on the lot had the 16 inch wheel/axle upgrade, I'm not sure what they would likely have. IMO, if you don't go the added expense of the upgraded axle/16 inch...

    Winterizing Sundance

I did my 3012 about 3 weeks ago. In order to get better access, I pulled the whole panel inside the storage compartment down since I couldn't "fish" out the suction hose for the antifreeze, and it is much easier to get your hand on the valve to cut off the fresh water line from the tank. It is...

    backing 5th wheel vs. tt

I taught a couple friends of mine how to back up a tracto trailer, and the one thing I always asked them to try was not to stare down the side of the trailer in the mirror. But rather to imagine a line from where your wheels are to where you want them to end up, this helps a lot as you aren't...

    Cable/Satellite

Out of curiousity, did you take the plates down and verify that the cable input is connected to the correct jack in the plate and/or splitter? The first time out with my Sundance, I couldn't program the cable on the TV, checked the cable box at the post, at the docking station, still nuttin...

    pressure washer???

I've not seen it listed for any of the Heartland units. I think I've seen them offered on a few, mostly the high end units such as WW (which are really expensive and most are so heavy they push the limits of a one ton truck). IMO you'd be just as well off with one of the small "suitcase style"...

    Apologizes in order! Faulty DIC!

If it's any consolation, the DIC reading in my Ram has always been off by approx 2mpg from the day it was brand new.

    Anyone with a 2500RS

IIRC, the Sundance models with the bedroom slide are 11'-10" with the 15 inch wheels and 12' with the upgraded 6K axles and 16 inch wheels. Don't know if all the Sundance models are the same height, but I would guess they'd all be pretty close to the same height.

    Sundance 3300SK Battery problem

Overcharging can also lead to a battery explosion. If a battery is charged at an excessive rate it will build up too much pressure due to the hydrogen build up from the electrolysis is too much for the vents to release. I'd say it's possible that the battery was either overcharged, or charged...

    Annode Rod replacement

I couldn't believe how much I got out of mine after approx 28 days of camping between July when I bought it and the Southeast Rally which was probably the last time I'll use it till spring. I made up a homemade rig, but think for next year I'm going to make one a little longer so I know I got...

Looking Hard @ the 3370RL Bighorn

One way to find out where switches etc are place is to do a search for the model you are looking at on RVTrader or Ebay. My closest Heartland dealer is about 2 1/2 hours away, and since they didn't handle (not yet anyways) the Sundance, I had to make a 200 mile trip to the selling dealer to look...

Time changing upon entering forum/ posts say already read (when they haven't been)

That was one of the intermittant "bugs" that we talked to Jim about at the Southeast Rally. The problems seem to come and go, so I think it's a server problem that will take some time to find.

    Commercial Truck Wash

I'd be hesitant to use any of the Blue Beacons or any of the automated truck washes, they use too much pressure and also use what they call "brightener" which is a mild acid which will probably do damage to your graphics and possibly more. I drove truck commercially for almost 20 years and...

    Corner vanity cabinet

Those pics show the point I tried to make at the Rally, since the vanity top extends beyond the cabinet itself, why couldn't the cabinet be made larger and the sink be placed closer to the front edge of the top? If the factory is bying the vanity top/sink as a premade unit I guess it would be...

    Advisory group

To be honest, I think Heartland already has one, this forum and our regional rally's. Since there are factory reps and one of the owners that actively participate in this forum, they have access to more owners than most manufacturers do.

    Corner vanity cabinet

I brought this up at the Southeast Rally, I like having the big deep medicing cabinet, but it sure would be nice if they brought the vanity out away from the wall an extra inch or so, or placed the sink a little closer to the edge of the vanity. In mine, I have almost no room behind my sink, yet...

    Olevia TV adjustments

It's not the TV, it's the networks showing so many shows today only in widescreen that is messing it up:mad: . I can't for the life of me figure out why they broadcast in different resolutions, I guess they don't really care about who's keeping them on anymore. It was really bad when I had the...
