    Electrical woes

So my theory was correct. I got to a location where we could get help if needed, and cut the wires shown in the photo, and the circuit breaker now resets, restoring power to the fridge, the tv, and the other outlets. This leaves me with the one outlet behind the loveseat. Of course, this...

    EMS on sale?

I got our Progressive EMW-HW30C from Camping World. They had the best price by far at $208.57. I got it in less than a week. I installed it under the drawers in the bathroom in our 21FBS, and routed the remote display to just under the sink. They now have a lifetime warranty, which is pretty...

    Need to mount a ladder

When I wanted to add a ladder to my 21FBS, I emailed Heartland, and they responded with a very nice engineering drawing showing the location where the ladder could be mounted.

    So, here's my dream

Hello all, I'm a current very happy North Trail owner, and can hardly wait for our 4th season with the trailer to start in 3 months. We've had the rig out on the road for up to 3 weeks at a time in complete comfort, but not always with complete convenience. Here's what the DW and I are hoping...

Feedback to Heartland on 21FBS bed

Hmm... We popped for the upgraded mattress, and have been very happy with it. I also did the lengthening mod to the base and filled in the gap at the head of the bed. I went with stiffeners around the edge of the base in lieu of the legs. So far, so good! We did get a deluxe mattress cover...

    Wiring in an extra battery

I've got dual 12 v batteries, but I had the dealer install them, so they're both the same size. I like the arrangement with the extra capacity. Highly recommended.

    New 09 21fbs

Hey Yosmitesam, If you're interested, we have an entire forum for NorthTrail owners over at http://www.northtrailtalk.com/. We also have the 09 21FBS. The locks for the drawers are built in. You have to close the drawers with a little force to get the latch to engage, and I don't always get...

    Converter Concerns

It seems that the converter behaves just fine on stable shore power, but one of the side effects of being connected to "dirty" power may be the fluctuations in the fan speed.

    Water pump stutters

We just found out that we had a kink in the supply line from the tank to the pump. You might be experiencing the same thing, with slightly different symptoms.

    Converter Concerns

I just got off the phone with my dealer. They said they checked the converter out, and said there is no problem. I know for a fact the fan was "surging" as described above in RVCamper's post, and it definitely emitted a strong electrical smell during one trip. I'm concerned about accepting...

    21FBS dinette cushions, Option??

The radiused cushions were a very pleasant surprise when we got our 21FBS back in April. Much more usable in the dinette, and can even server as a back pillow while sitting up in bed to watch TV!

NorthTrail owners- CHECK YOUR BRAKE WIRING!! Heartland engineers-READ THIS.

Interesting. My Tekonsha P3 has been complaining about an overload condition, which didn't start until after about 1500 miles on the trailer. My 21FBS is in the shop right now, and I've asked them to check into the brake wiring. I'll let you folks know how it goes.

    Converter Concerns

I just got my NT in the shop this morning, and should hear in the next few days. I'll do a follow up post.

    Converter Concerns

Thanks for the info. Mine sounds exactly like RVCamper's .wmv file. I'll contact the dealer and begin the process of getting it taken care of. The dealer I bought from is in Indiana, so hopefully the local Denver dealer won't hassle me about servicing it.

    Converter Concerns

I've noticed the electrical converter on our 21FBS is behaving in a way that seems strange to me. The fan doesn't always come on, but seems to depend on the load applied. This makes sense to me except for the fact that in certain conditions, the fan seems to pulse on and off repeatedly, almost...

    Newbie with a 2009 21FBS - Anyone else?

Hi Jeannie, We just picked up our 21FBS back in April, and are heading out this week for 10 days on the road. We've had it out once up to Mt Rushmore in between. For the two of us, the 21FBS is perfect. The dinette makes into a very long bed that will work for our 6' 4" tall son when and if...

TV Mounts in North Trail 28BH 5ver

What's the collective wisdom on doing this? Do the TVs themselves hold up to being mounted on a swivel arm during transport? I would think that might be a little rough on them.

Wiring under overhead cabinets on 21FBS?

We just picked up our new 21 FBS and are enroute back to Colorado. Other than some awful sidewinds, the trip has been great. The trailer tows very easily, almost like there's nothing back there behind my Tahoe. I'm wondering about where I can mount a paper towel holder over the sink area. I...

    RV Capital Wholesalers

We have a 21FBS on order with them as well, slated for mid-April delivery. We definitely got the best price quote from them, and Justin has provided good answers for all our concerns. We'll keep you posted on how we do. John

    Toyota Tacoma

There's a great set of articles on towing at http://www.rvtowingtips.com/what-can-i-tow.htm About 2/3 the way down the page, there's a link to a weight calculator that is an Excel spreadsheet. I downloaded it and used it for comparison purposes in deciding which TT to look for to tow with my...

Added some stuff to the North Trail...

Looks great! Where did you get the mounting bracket for the TV? I presume you stow the TV when moving?

    We've taken the plunge!

So, after doing a lot of research and looking, we placed our order yesterday with RVCapitalWholesalers for a 21FBS. We're looking forward to getting the TT and spending much more time in the Colorado mountains this year!

What can you run off the battery?

My wife and I are discussing what we should do regarding generators, and the question came up about what we can run when we have battery only. I had assumed it would be pretty much everything but the air conditioner, but then I wondered about the oven. Assuming we have two batteries, should we...

    Battery Charge?

Does anyone have any guidance on how long you can expect to operate on a single battery charge? With the heated underbelly, furnace usage, lights, etc would a single charge on the battery last for a weekend campout in cooler weather, or should I upgrade to dual batteries and/or look at getting...

    Breakaway System?

Hi Forrest, Yeah, I could have worded my question better. I understand they're two different things. I was shopping for the Tekonsha and came across ads for breakaway systems and was wondering if I needed to purchase one as well, since I didn't see anything on the list of features that said...

    Breakaway System?

Does Heartland recommend any particular breakaway system for the North Trail brakes? I'm looking at the Tekonsha P3 brake controller, and need to look for the breakaway system as well.

    Dining table

I looked at one on Saturday over at RV America. The table looks to be about 2' x 4', with the dinette area itself about 7' long. We're interested because our son is 6' 4", and regular dinette beds are too cramped, but this one looks great. I stretched out on it and could not reach from one end...

    "Black Tank Flush System" Feature

I've been reading about the macerator pump systems out there that sound like they will make taking care of the black tank dumps a lot easier and less messy. However, I notice the spec sheet for the North Trail calls out a "Black Tank Flush System", but doesn't describe it. Can you tell me...

    Electric Water Heater???

I thought I saw a reference (that I can't find now, of course) to the fact that North Trails have an electric water heater, instead of gas. Is this correct? The standards/options section of the website lists it as a DSI water heater, which implies gas. Thanks in advance.

    28 RLS Hitch Weight Discrepancy

If I download the Floor Plans brochure, the 28RLS has a hitch weight of 550 lbs. However, on the specifications section of your web site, it shows 690 lbs, a 140 lb difference. What is the actual hitch weight? Thanks!
