    New owner!

We learned this lesson the very hard, expensive way. Bought our 2019 42 ft Bighorn new. Minding the tires was a habit from the beginning. Visually, they were very good. Then one morning one of them blew beneath a 13 ft kitchen slide. Tore out an extensive wiring harness, ripped off the wheel...

New cord reel-switch just clicks when released

Thank you. That's my inclination, as well. We have been rolling daily since this discovery and dealing with manually rolling up the cord in the morning. Not something I would wish on anyone for very long. But we are going to be parked over the holiday weekend. Will have some time to dig into...

New cord reel-switch just clicks when released

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like I have the same general type as you. Manual pull- power rollup. Yes, it's the same as the original- a Southwire RL54. The connections from the the source power to the switch and switch to the motor are solid. And the fact that it rolled up just fine when...

New cord reel-switch just clicks when released

Have confirmed good voltage through the switch (on the wires to the motor) when the switch is pressed. Odd thing is (to me), it is the switch that clicks when I let go, not the motor. This is a single position spring-loaded switch. It doesn't have separate Retract and Release positions. Seems...

New cord reel-switch just clicks when released

I just had to have the cord reel replaced on my 2019 42 ft Bighorn a couple weeks ago. Rolled up the cord fine when leaving the service shop. Been parked since then. Discovered this afternoon that the reel isn't working. Nothing from the motor. However, when I release the switch, it clicks...

    Agreed on all counts. We're in a 42' 2019 Bighorn 3925MLP.

    Electric Fire place issues

I tend to agree with you. That's why I was curious as I take note of units with dual fireplaces. Never expected they would be on single circuit. But- the alternative would mean additional panel space which may not be available. If your 120V panel is full as mine is in my Bighorn, there wouldn't...

    Electric Fire place issues

Makes sense, then. One breaker/circuit (15 amp?) Could not support both fireplaces each pulling 10+ amps. So they are apparently wired for mutually exclusive operation. Interesting to know. Wonder if that's typical for all RVs with two fireplaces... (as opposed to separate circuits)

    Electric Fire place issues

Don't know if you have resolved your question by now or not. I'm curious- is the RV 30 or 50 amp? Do you control the fireplaces via individual front-panel switches (or a pocket-size remote control), or via some common control panel? How many 120V breakers are labelled for Fireplace (I'm guessing...

    Bedroom Slideout Electrical Issue

Glad to read that you found the source of your problem. Good luck with the repair. I, too, have the issue of the bed slide lights flickering when my phone is plugged into the USB port next to the bed. Have stopped using those ports. Wasn't always the case- recent development. It's a very slow...

    Battery sudden death

I have just lost a 3-year-old battery in a way I'm wondering if anyone else has encountered. These batteries were just routinely inspected and topped off (with barely any water addition needed anywhere) in September. Yesterday a power issue was traced to dead batteries. One of them had a cell...

    Deteriorating Water Flow- Exhausted Troubleshooting

This is not something I had previously done so finally got a chance yesterday. Disconnected cold PEX at kitchen sink and at Andersen Valve city water output port. Blew out with up to 40 PSI from kitchen end. Poured the water it blew out through a fine strainer and saw nothing but clean, clear...

    Deteriorating Water Flow- Exhausted Troubleshooting

I didn't mention the screens, but I have checked the shower and the kitchen sink screens. Clean. There is no accumulator tank installed (though I've long considered it). I believe that your theory of downstream plumbing is OK and the problem is very early in the system is spot on. When this...

    Deteriorating Water Flow- Exhausted Troubleshooting

I have been fighting the proverbial water flow problem for several months and am finally crying uncle. I do understand the difference in issues of pressure vs. flow rate. My pressure regulator at the spigot (the good Valterra unit with gauge- not the cheap one) will read over 80 PSI currently...

Washer-Dryer Prep But No Dryer Vent

Well, the job is done. Completed the Splendide 2100XC combo installation on Monday. The most uneventful installation ever, I think. Life[style] changing addition to the 5W. Thanks to everyone for all the thoughts, comments, and references. Some great takeaways.

Washer-Dryer Prep But No Dryer Vent

Thanks John. So far, I've planned on using the flexible aluminum, single piece run. - - - Updated - - - :D We have split gray tanks and the washer will drain into the smaller of the two serving the bathroom, as well. Have already thought about the attention-factor there. - - - Updated - - -...

Washer-Dryer Prep But No Dryer Vent

Many thanks. Still considering two possible routes for the hose run. One is a little shorter total hose length but has a 90 degree bend in it. Other a little longer but only a slight arc. Interesting note on the lint flushing down the water drain. Guess there must not be any issues in the tanks.

Washer-Dryer Prep But No Dryer Vent

You are correct- that's precisely the space I refer to. And your mark is actually the option I've considered as the shortest hose run, yet avoided. Ironically, there is a fair bit of space there that I have previously "recovered" and adjoined to that storage bin. Have figured I would have to...

Washer-Dryer Prep But No Dryer Vent

Have to admit we haven't even evaluated ventless dryer options. Conceptually it's just not an option we wanted to consider for all the historical reasons. But it sounds like there's been a few advancements worth considering. I appreciate the references.

Washer-Dryer Prep But No Dryer Vent

We've always figured, with this model/layout, that a ventless dryer had been their thought. But- we won't have one not vented. Can't immediately go thru the floor as the larger of my gray tanks sets right below that utility room. I'm going to have to come out thru the wall (easy enough, I've...

Washer-Dryer Prep But No Dryer Vent

Thanks, John. No bulls-eye on the wall for drilling. Sure wouldn't trust it from much of what I've seen. It's an interior wall here so no exterior frost line help. But I have removed the panels around an exterior storage area to get access to the backside of that interior wall. Nothing in the...

Washer-Dryer Prep But No Dryer Vent

In my 2019 Heartland 3925MLP we are prepped for a washer/dryer albeit in an inside wall closet. The plumbing and electrical prep is there but there's nothing for a dryer vent. If anyone has ever added a vented unit this model I'm interested on any comments on how you ran the vent out. Inside...

    Converter Blacking Out?

OK, thanks. Yeah, I understand the isolation concepts. I just wasn't sure if there was something else on your mind with respect to the solar panel. Many thanks. - - - Updated - - - Yeah, ...<sigh>. I should have talked with Progressive a long time ago. The conversations with Heartland just...

    Converter Blacking Out?

Thanks for the thoughts. Yes, indeed, the ground is at the center of a good many electrical issues. It's the behavior of the equipment (converter, furnace, etc.) here that baffled me- or, I guess, the way the issue manifested itself beginning to end. I'm definitely going to run down the various...

    Converter Blacking Out?

Thanks for the thoughts, Dane. I'm curious about your point on disconnecting the solar charge controller. Is it conceivable that I actually lost 12v ground otherwise and the 9v reading was just something coming from that solar panel? It was not totally dark when this first occurred- close, but...

    Converter Blacking Out?

I had a recent issue with the converter in my Bighorn that has had me stumped for a couple days now. Would be grateful for any insight or thoughts. I've had this Bighorn for a year+ now. It has a Progressive 9200 converter that has exhibited a quirk that I've never been able to get any answers...

    12V System Idle Voltage Reading

Been out of pocket for a while here, Dan, but still working the same issue. The reading I'm getting on the inside OneControl panel is definitely the Controller. When I shut off the breaker to the Converter, or shut off the 50A breaker on the pedestal, the voltage displayed immediately drops to...

    12V System Idle Voltage Reading

Well, the solar panel's charge controller should be doing the same thing the charge controller in the Converter is doing. If batteries are fully charged, for example, the Converter's charge controller controls voltage output to 13.2. The solar panel's charge controller does the same thing. So...

    12V System Idle Voltage Reading

Yes, I would give anything to be able to see what mode it's in. Have to look into that. After this morning's testing, recycling of the converter power, and my previous message, my voltage reading just dropped to 13.27. It is now my belief that my Converter may have a problem in that after a...

    12V System Idle Voltage Reading

I'm reading it from the LCI OneControl panel inside. Yes, as well as any solar generation attached. I have the tiny factory solar panel glued to the roof and connected to the small PWM Charge Controller in the battery bay. I'm currently in a park on shore power. At 6:30 this morning (no sun on...

    12V System Idle Voltage Reading

It's my understanding that the 12V system should generally be reading just upwards of 13 volts (as presented on the interior panel) when plugged into shore power - 13.2, 13.4- which should be Converter voltage assuming the batteries are charged. I'm typically seeing 12.58 - 12.85 (or 12.93 as I...

    Black tank flush in-tank components

Can someone confirm what exactly the solution is inside the black tank for the flush mechanism? When I connect the hose to my 2019 Bighorn to flush it after dumping, what is going on in the tank? Is it a series of jets of some sort, a single jet, etc? Also, it's been suggested to me that...

    Heartland Touts New PDI Initiatives

This is pretty much where I've landed. It's entirely an issue of using a resource that has my reason for being there as their primary focus, and the success or failure of their work as the basis of the success or failure of their business. Yes, they can. Always something foremost in my mind...

Res Fridge On Slide Pushing Kitchen Island On Close

That's actually the first thing I checked. I fully suspected the fridge was not back all the way. But it is. I will need more than a half inch, too. Gonna be a problem here. The island cabinet is right up against the heat duct in the floor on its back side. I kind of wondered if that wasn't...

Res Fridge On Slide Pushing Kitchen Island On Close

I can imagine. Being new to a later model unit of this size, that's how I'm familiarizing myself far more rapidly than I had in mind coming in. It's been great to have so many "helping hands". In fact, it's been a life saver. The space in back of that sink is the only thing I need to get a look...
