Now Your Talking..
The easiest way to miss the checks on tires/axles yada yada yada..
PETERBILT.
With a tandem axle, they can't say nothing except have a nice day and nice looking rig.:D
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Dan
ps, after pulling this, the Cyclone is a piece of cake.:o
Tv
For the 2 minutes it took me to cut the 3 Zap straps and take out the 4 screws that hold the TV to bracket. It is well worth it. TV is now nice and safe and warm in the house til spring or Christmas when we go to Valemount BC to go Sledding.
Just my .02 worth.
Good Posting
Yes Paul, your right.
How many of us, pretty much all have either kids or grand kids. Fire drills and fire safety should definitely be practiced even when holidaying with our 5th wheels.
Once again, Good Call.
Dan
Studs...
Yeah out here in backwards Alberta us rednecks can run studded tires from Nov 1 to April 1. The enlightened people in Ontario use calcium and some other chemicals on the roads instead. I make one trip through ON and back I gotta look on my cab card to see what color my truck is...
Needle Nose Pliers
The wife was mad at me buuuut. I used needlenose pliers and a bit of silicone spray to get it to come peacefully instead of in pieces.
I stuck a small flathead screwdriver along the side to pry it abit so I could spray down there to get it to come out.
A while back we were having issues with our DVD player and it was pooched.
Even Though we were a few months past our warranty, through this forum and a couple of phone calls, ASA stepped up to the plate.
I shipped off the old unit to have it checked. ASA just sent me a BRANDIE NEW ONE...
DRW vs SRW
Believe it or not but the GVCW of a dually is actually less than a Single Rear Wheel. By 500 lbs.
Unless your going places off the beaten track, 4x2 would be the way to go. 4 X 4 is expensive to fix.BTDT

Same Problem
We had ours do the same thing. When I did finally get the one out of the floor. I used Gorilla Glue on it. Now the other one has done it as well.
So then they both will be fixed.
Ladder
In our 3950 the ladder is the same, but what I did was buy from the dollar store that round nerf foam for the kids pool. Cut it and taped it around the rungs. Doesn't hurt the feet no more.
Ikea has bunk bed wooden ladders for 23.00. Just bought a replacement for the kids bed in the house.
Chicken Coops
Anybody can pull into a government scale for their weights. You can even go inside and talk to the 2 headed monster (DOT Officer:D) and ask them if they will even give you a print out of your weights.
Most of them are pretty obliging about doing this.
Or if the scale is closed...
Decals
I wouldn't mind getting a few of those but smaller to put on the side of the big truck. That way if somebody passes me and I am working, they will know the truck.
Fitting In Nicely
Well Jake has been with us for a week now. And he seems to adjusted to his new home(s) nicely.
Kids love him and the cat well she ain't too sure about him yet. LOL:eek:
FM Transmitter
I just bought a 30.00 FM transmitter unit for my Ipod.
Plugs into the headphone jack and plays through a vacant FM station.
Just another option.
Dan
The nice thing about HL, is they do stand behind their product. If there is something wrong, the will do everything to make it right. Even if the dealer forgets your name after the check is cashed.
This past weekend was the inaugural Alberta Chapter H O G Rally in Sundre.
Me and my tribe were supposed to attend. I left home on Wenesday with a Oversize load going to Vancouver. No biggy. Do it all the time. Get to Port Coquitlam on Thursday to deliver. Everybody is gone. Still deliver Friday...
Scales,
Depending on the jurisdiction I am in. Some states and provinces say All Vehicles over XXXXX weight must report.
This summer I took my commercial plate off my truck and put a RV license and insurance on it. But still had to hit some scales. Just with the RV plate I didn't have to run...
Tare... Ouch
My tare on her is 26410 truck alone.
With my 13 axle I am 100,000 lbs empty.
So yeah me and Flying J are on a first name basis every week to pay the fuel bills. lol
With the 8 axle in those pics we are 68000 lbs empty
Win The Prize...
That my fellow Heartland Owner is a D9 weighing a tad under 100,000 lbs.
That's my FT job moving stuff like that or bigger. Now you see why my Pete breaths a sigh of relief when hooked to the 3950.:p
My Jeep weighs almost as much as the 3950. Not as much fun though to pull...
Ha Cheap Fuel Bills
BTW. Went shopping today and brought home a complete set of 150 gallon Freightliner fuel tanks for 500 bones ...... That's right...... 150 gallons each side. 23" diameter and 89" long. Anybody wanna pay my $700 - $800 fuel bill when I top up every 4 - 5 days.
Sure I will...
Our Doors Open As Well
If you ever are in this part of the world. Our Cyclones doors are open as is our shop or yard or anything else one might need to get going keep going or have a place to hunker down.
Antennae Thieves.
Just as I read this I looked out the shop window and noticed mine is gone too.
Gotta be antennae gremlins running loose over North America.
Hmm..:D
Large Car,
Well for my .02 worth..
For pulling in the mountains and basic flatland running with all the creature comforts and keeping the kiddies quiet.
We went Peterbilt. 600 HP for the hills (What Hills??)
18 speed with full lockers. Kinda like 4x4.
3:70 ratio 70 mph 1450 rpm
70"...
