Trailer Purchase - What to look out for

With you on this one! Love Heartland, not so much Couch's. I'm in Ontario as well, but luckily, I picked up, so I was able to do a PDI myself before accepting the unit. Before purchase, I specifically asked about their "service network" and I swear the guy just quickly googled "RV service in...

    Random switch

On my North Trail, the extra switch is for the optional WiFi booster. I've also seen stair lights mentioned when this has been asked before.

Oh wow, that’s not good 😬

    False advertisement

No doubting you or downplaying your situation, I feel awful for you! But there seems to be a lot of confusion about "heated underbelly". You do know that it simply means that there are heat ducts aimed towards the underbelly and not heat pads on the tanks, right?

    Puzzling Backup Camera Issue..

This seems like a silly question, but have you checked that the lights are currently working? I had an electrical issue where when I connected my vehicle, the vehicle fuse that operates the running lights would blow. When that happened, my cameras would go out, too.

    Concerned

What model did you get and what are the issues? Were they found by the dealer prior to your PDI visit or ? I have a 2023 NT 21RBSS and have found it to be very well and thoughtfully built unit. I've had one issue (blowing a fuse on my vehicle) but it's been fixed and/or may have been an issue...

    Location of pump

It looks very similar to the North Trail 21RBSS. In mine, you remove the drawers to the left of the oven to gain access.

    Winterizing 2022 M26 With Air

An alternative to blowing it out might be using a propylene glycol-based anti-freeze. I am also hyper-sensitive to the smell of standard ethanol based rv antifreeze. LOL, just today, I started a thread on another forum and have lots of people telling me I'm nuts. But I smell it every time I...

    Back-up camera

I have a 2023 North Trail and people are finding that the wires are provided but not hooked up "prepped vs. ready". If that's the case, it's easy to get power down from the center running light.

Backup camera wiring- North Tail 24BHS

It seems many of these weren’t completely done. I’ve seen posts about dealers saying this is what “prepped” vs ”ready” means. My 2023 21RBSS came the same way as yours.(edit:just re-read. Mine did have a hole through the fiberglass. I initially thought there was also supposed to be a hole...

Wiring melt? Fire Hazard? Dealer Electrical Mod!

Glad it's working for you! My North Trail has the non-powered vent as well, but Couch's declined to install a fan there due to the lack of wiring. I had it installed in the bathroom instead. I might look at DIYing a second one at some point. Love fans, hate AC :)

Radio speakers not working on North Trail 21RBSS. Any schematics available for my electrician husband?

I don't know about schematics, but you know the stereo pops out easily, right? The 2 vertical strips on either side are attached by magnets and then you can access the screws. I had to take mine out to wire the TV speakers to it.

    Sol 280

That's a good point! I suppose it would make sense to investigate it, and I will, but being the the west GTA (greater Toronto area), I'm much closer to New York state than to any Canadian space where off the grid living would be workable. The prices up here tend to be very high due to the...

    Sol 280

My 2023 North Trail 21RBSS is prepped for Sol solar and I'm considering going with the Sol 280. With it being fairly new, I'm having trouble finding any reviews or relevant information beyond that provided on the Heartland site. I'm a total solar newbie, so it it's as easy as it sounds, it's...

    North Trail walls

Thank you. I went ahead and did it yesterday using plastic drywall toggle bolt anchors and it seems to have a really good, solid hold. I made sure the screws weren’t too long but drilling was still absolutely terrifying!

    North Trail walls

I want to hang a knife bar above the stove in my 2023 21RBSS, but I’m unclear of how the walls are made and therefore, what type of anchor should be used. It would be through the backsplash into the wall fwiw. Anyone able to answer?

    North trail 21rbss

I just got mine, love it! I read that slide toppers could be problematic, so I skipped it. I wish I'd had the dealer install my camera, because in my case (and many others) it's simply a cap, with no wiring. There's some discussion about the meaning of "prepped" and whether it's being...

    How long did it take?

Haha if I was closer, I would have…I live about 8 hours from the dealership! Unfortunately, they didn’t make my timeline for the event. There was a delay at Heartland (which they took responsibility for) and also, my original salesperson had quit and the dealership failed to catch up with his...

    Dealing with surface rust

My tow vehicle gets Corrosion-Free every year but for some reason (unknown even to me!) I never paid attention to my last trailer with regards to rust and I ended up with a HUGE frame-rust problem that led me to get rid of it :( I'm trying to learn all I can about rust prevention on travel...

    Altered GVWR

The actual weight isn't my concern, I know I'll be well under. I just need to check with my insurance broker to be sure I'd be covered if an accident occurs and the trailer sticker says it's POTENTIALLY higher than my tow capacity. I've heard that you can be charged and insurance can refuse to...

    Altered GVWR

Thanks! That's my plan, I think. I travel very light (the trailer I just sold had a cargo capacity of 700lb!) and never with full tanks. I don't expect to ever be anywhere near the fully loaded number! My Durango hemi is fully capable but my concern is legality should an accident ever occur.

    Altered GVWR

So, noticed something today. Note the cargo capacity and GVWR. Shots are from when I ordered (lower GVWR) and today (higher GVWR). Any idea why Heartland would change this? In my case this is a bad thing because my truck tows up to 7200 and although I have no intention of overloading, I’ve...

    How long did it take?

Well the good news is I got my VIN # and off-line date. The bad news is there was a delay on the Heartland side and it's not until April 20. Between transport and dealer prep, it's not gonna happen in time for my event, so the big scramble for a rental trailer or hotel room starts...

    How long did it take?

Has anyone here ordered a North Trail recently? How long did yours take? I ordered my 21rbss via Couch's on January 31. The salesperson at the time guessed it would be ready in late March, though one of his coworkers said probably even mid-March. I followed up with him last week and he still...

Sadly, I think this is the case with all manufacturers, especially those in my price range :( Some people are thinking it could be getting better now that they’re not frantically cranking out the new units for all the covid campers? I guess it’s a roll of the dice, but my current trailer is...

    Potential new owner!

LOL I had my little TrailRunner Scout 14RB parked in Amherstberg back in the summer of 2014 and someone left a card for this group on my windshield. I thought it was such a nice "handshake". However, I had already made the decision to trade up so I never pursued it. Now I'm back! The "trade...
