jumper cables to truck to power slideout

If one finds themselves in the boonies with an extended slideout and a dead battery, is there any problem with connecting the truck battery to the trailer battery with jumper cables to power the slideout (with the truck running).

    cheapest/lamest mod ever?

DW and I were annoyed by the amount of light coming in through the bedroom ceiling vent while trying to sleep in our North Trail 21FBS. A piece of black poster board and some velcro took care of that.

installed my EMS (surge protector) in NT 21FBS (pics)

I had resigned myself to thinking I needed an outdoor/portable surge protector, but I really wanted a hardwired unit. A few weeks ago I noticed for the first time that the panel below and to the right of the sink (when looking at the sink) in my North Trail 21FBS is removable. The second I saw...

My 21FBS at Villanueva State Park (NM)

DW and I spent the weekend at Villanueva State Park in New Mexico. Absolutely gorgeous site right on the Pecos River.

    need info on hiway 60

I can't think of anything you'd need to worry about other than the gas stations being few and far between on 60. In Socorro, when you hit California Street (main drag), turn right for a short (1/2 mile) jaunt to I-25. If you turn left you'll have to go through town to hit I-25. Also, along the...

    Tekonsha Voyger Brake Controller

Ditto all that. I had a Voyager (which I paid WAY too much for at the dealer w/ trailer purchase before I knew anything) and could never get it set right. It needed adjustment every time I used it and there were times when I could never get it right and felt like it was doing nothing. Had a...

Are there any concerns of overheating the in-wall wiring when running a 1000-1500W electric space heater?

    slideout seal is detaching

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. DW_Gray, did you end up going with the Gorilla Snot? I'm a bit leery of using a spray adhesive due to the required precision. I'd prefer a gel or liquid, like the Gorilla Snot. Here's some pics of what I'm talking about:

    slideout seal is detaching

Hi Mcreech, I think the sweep would be what we're talking about. It's the wide black rubber seal that flips out when it's going out and flips in when going in. It's attached on the inside.

    slideout seal is detaching

The top 6 or 8 inches of the slideout rear-side seal has detached from the interior of my North Trail 21FBS. Is there an adhesive I can buy to reattach this myself? I'd like to avoid the 55-mile round trip to my dealer just for them to slap some glue on it.

    2010 Tacoma as tow vehicle

I should also mention my towing was with minimal additional weight. 15 gallons of water, extra battery, 150lb me, and 120lb wife in truck; battery, propane, bedding, clothes, food, and lightweight cookware/dinnerware in trailer.

    2010 Tacoma as tow vehicle

I used to tow my 21FBS with a Tacoma. It did fine on the flats, but got maxed out fairly easily with a headwind up moderate grades. There were times on I-40 between Albuquerque and Flagstaff when I had it floored in 5th (6 speed manual) just to maintain 60mph (should be in 6th by 50mph when...

Don't forget the female silhouette mudflaps -- those add at least 5000 lbs towing capacity.

    Panels on roof finally

How are they attached to the roof? I'd like to add some panels someday but don't have a clue how to mount without the danger of causing leaks.

Anybody Mount a SurgeGuard in their North Trail?

I have the same question, so I'm reviving this post. :) Can anyone comment on how easy/difficult it is to hardwire a surge protector on a North Trail TT?

    21FBS kitchen sink window valence

I went in and took a look at ours -- I assume there is no valence for fire safety (too close to the stove burners).

Hi rbloom, Ours does not have one. I can't say if it's a factory option. - Brad

    '07 Tacoma w/ North Trail 21FBS

For the record, it tows quite nicely. It was a bit of a struggle from Albuquerque to Gallup (almost entirely uphill toward the Continental Divide) with a 15 mph headwind thrown in. I had trouble maintaining 65 mph. But for the remainder of the trip (750 miles round trip) it towed great...

    cold weather plumbing advice?

Well I went ahead and winterized today. Gonna have some sub-freezing nights before we head out, and the forecast low at my destination the night before I arrive is now 15 F! If that shifts any I'd be in trouble! As it stands, it should still be mid to upper 20's when I'm there. I do think...

    cold weather plumbing advice?

I'm going to be taking my 21FBS out for her maiden voyage next weekend. Temps should be in the mid 20's at night and 50's during the day. I will be boondocking and was hoping to have water. I realize this is right on the threshold of having freezing issues, even with the furnace running. My...

    '07 Tacoma w/ North Trail 21FBS

Hi Irvin, The Tacoma has a 4.0 V6, 236 hp, 266 lbs-ft, wheelbase ~128". Tacoma GVWR 5450 lbs Max truck cargo 1200 (Tacoma weight ~4300) Max tongue load 650 Max towable 6500 Max combined 11100 I don't know what the tongue weight w/ WDH will be, I'm guessing ~350 (dry). 21FBS theoretical dry...

    '07 Tacoma w/ North Trail 21FBS

Howdy all, The wife and I just committed to a North Trail 21FBS. Tow vehicle is a 2007 Toyota Tacoma double cab 4x4 non-TRD. It has had the suspension TSB performed, meaning the 3-leaf springs have been replaced with 4 (as well as swapping in the stiffer TRD shocks). And of course we will be...
