    Sidearm choice- for the wife.

Love my Beretta Nano! It shoots well with 147gr with minimal recoil. I also have hand pain issues and can rack it easily. Also just bought a Kimber Pro Carry II that shoots well and is easy to rack. Diane

    Leaving the Heartland Family

We have been considering a larger TT and have decided to purchase an Open Range. We have enjoyed our North Trail and this forum has been a good learning experience and a lot of fun. We did not want to go to a fifth wheel and could not find any Heartland products near us that had the layout we...

    Trailer . . . What trailer?

Congratulations on the new truck! You will have to look in the rearview mirror to be sure you have the trailer with you. We had the same experience moving from the F 150 to the F 250 diesel. Diane

New Tires for the North Trail

UPDATE on the Kumho Tires we had installed before vacation. The trip was from MD to VA to NC to VA and back to MD using Interstate 81 for most of the travel while towing. The Kumho tires performed exactly as we had hoped in that we felt comfortable towing a steady 65 and hitting 70 when passing...

    AC Not Working

The AC is a Coleman unit and for the second year has broken at the end of vacation. When it was turned on at the final destination Friday, there was an ominous clunking sound. This happened last year and was a capacitor issue and was repaired. I think it is time to replace the unit. The...

    Almost Lost Freshwater Tank

We are on vacation in Asheville, NC, and Marshall noticed that the fresh water tank was hanging low and close to ripping the cloroplast. Called a mobile tech who came out within 45 minutes to assess the situation. We took the camper to his location and the tank is in place with better screws and...

New Tires for the North Trail

We did go with the Kumho tires that were installed om July 3. The tires are radials and were balanced and the trailer seems to ride more smoothly than with the original Duro tires. We leave for Asheville, NC, on July 19, so this will be the real test of the new tires. Plans are to tow at maximum...

New Tires for the North Trail

I hope you don't really think we will tow at 99 mph. LOL Tow speed for us is normally under 65 mph although our truck could make that trailer fly. Regarding the Kumho tires, there are folks on RV Net Forum who have had good luck with the Kumho trailer tires. Choices for us were Maxxis or...

New Tires for the North Trail

Our trailer came with Duro tires and are being replaced as they are four years old and aging. After much discussion and research, we are going with Kumho tires with load range D. They are rated for 99 mph. The tires are being shipped motor freight and will be here Monday. Vacation is mid July to...

    Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel

Re: Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnell Tractor trailers use it all the time. The view from the bridge is spectacular. There is a great parking area with restrooms on the Eastern Shore side of the tunnel. We stop there to turn off the propane on the way south and then to turn it back on going north...

    1st Time Buyer's Mistake

We learned our lessons on sailboats and had two 24 footers and two 28 footers and now a 32 footer. Should have just gone from the first 24 footer to the 32 footer. These are expensive lessons so taking your time and using your current rig will give you the opportunity to discover what you really...

Stressed and unsure after reading forum

Our 24RBS was bought new and sight unseen as the locAL dealer did not have one in stock. We have owned it four years and have had mostly minor issues that were promptly fixed by the dealer. The one major issue happened on vacation last July when the shower drain separated. We were lucky enough...

More solid support for the Shower floor.

Our shower drain broke last summer the first day of our vacation trip. Fortunately there was a mobile repair service to fix the drain and then we added support with two by fours. The repairman told us this is a common problem with many brands of campers.

Thinking of going to the dark side - iOS to Android cell phone - your experience...

We were seriously considering switching from Android to the iPhone when the new one is out in September. But we were able to get two Galaxy 5s phones for the price of one. They arrived on Tuesday and both of us love them. The iPhone screen is just too small for these aging eyes. LOL

looking at getting a puppy - looking for advice from other owners

Please be aware that there are no registered breeders of cockapoos as this not a recognized breed as they are bred by puppy mills or backyard breeders. Cockapoos are awesome dogs but you need to check the background of the puppy very carefully. Also, check out breed rescues for poodles and cocker...

    delamination of side of coach

We bought our NT24RBS from Leo's and second the suggestion to talk to Leo's in person about the repair. Since our unit is now out of warranty, we use Annapolis RV in Grasonville,MD, for all RV work and have been more than pleased with the workmanship.

    Annapolis Rv Grasonville MD

Our NT24RBS has just gotten its annual maintenance service at Annapolis RV. One of the main items was to check all caulking and replace as needed. Annapolis RV removed ALL caulking and recaulked all seams and windows. What a surprise and we are very pleased. The shop that did some recaulking a...

About to purchase a 2013 North Trail 24RBS

We are very pleased with our NT 24RBS. The layout is great with plenty of storage and the rear closet holds quite a bit. The pull out bike carrier has worked well for holding bikes. We have traveled with it from Maryland to Down East Maine, to northwestern PA, to eastern and western NC, and to...

Love the 32RLTS but not sure about towing

We upgraded from a F150 to a F250 diesel. There is a world of difference towing our trailer that weighs 6900 fully loaded. The 150 did the job but not as easily and towing up grades was a nail biter at high rpm's and the gas pedal mashed to the floor. I think that trailer is too much for the 150...

Slide out roof very noisey in the rain

We are sailors on the Chesapeake Bay. Your comparison to reefing regarding slide toppers is not correct. The toppers attach to the trailer and the top of the slide out. On our North Trail, the topper does not cause any issues in high winds and does not need to be reefed as sails do.

Axle Flip on NorthTrail 24 RBS

I did a Google search and saw that Grumbines is now a Camping World. After all the bad press about Camping World's business practices, I am very hesitant to purchase a TT from them. I think we will proceed slowly as our current TT is in fine condition and we love the layout and space in it. Diane

Axle Flip on NorthTrail 24 RBS

Very good point and that is why we are also considering a new TT with 15 inch wheels to give us better height from the ground. My dealer, who I think is excellent, no longer sells the North Trail line although does carry other Heartland products. I plan on asking if the dealer can order a North...

Axle Flip on NorthTrail 24 RBS

We are considering flipping the axles due to the low ground clearance for the dump valves. Has anyone done this and were you satisfied with the results? Do trailers that have been modified lose value quicker than stock trailers? The other consideration is a new trailer but we love our...

Our NT 24RBS Got a Gift Today

Our first trip was two weeks ago and we did look back to make sure the trailer was still attached. LOL Fabulous towing experience with all the power and the huge mirrors. We have seen both yellow and green handles for diesel and look at the pump several times to make sure it is diesel.

Observations from an RV"ER at a parking lot sale.

We have been "invisible" many times on showroom floors or lots. Tracking down a salesperson to ask a question that cannot be answered is annoying. I have to say that our recent purchase of the new truck was a very good experience. The salesperson knew his stock, both new and used, and worked...

Favorite dealers for RV Purchase and Service

Another vote for Leo's! We had them service our Sunline after the selling dealer closed and bought our current NT from them. The TT gets an annual service there as well for brakes, bearings, recaulking as needed, etc. Both the sales and service folks are great.

Our NT 24RBS Got a Gift Today

It seems that we have to learn a new language: diesel! And remember to pull up to the diesel pump and learn all the features on this new truck and check that the NT is still attached with all the power compared to the F-150. I think it will be a fun summer!

Our NT 24RBS Got a Gift Today

We traded our 2010 F-150 King Ranch for a 2013 F-250 Super Duty Lariat diesel truck! The new truck should pull the TT with no effort since the truck tow rating is 14,000 pounds and the NT weighs in at 6900 pounds. This is our first diesel vehicle so we have a big learning curve but I think we...

RV Parks near 301 before/after Bay Bridge?

There is no camping near the Chesapeake Bay Bridge but I have seen many RV's stop in the Kmart parking lot overnight. You could also stop at the Elks lodge about 5 miles south of Route 50 on the Kent Island side as there are a few RV sites there for members. Tuckahoe State Park is a...

24RBS and 22 FBS loaded tongue weight

We have a 24RBS and tow with an F 150 super crew. Previous tow vehicle was a Ford Expedition. That was not a pleasant towing experience due to the short wheelbase. You need to consider the wheel base of your tow vehicle in addition to tongue weight.

Take it easy on the Heartland wannabe!

We have had our 24RBS for two years and no slide issues at all. We travel with two standard poodles and there is plenty of room for all of us. Good luck in your search for the best floorplan for you. Diane

    Successful Trip

We arrived home yesterday after a great trip to Maine and Southern Vermont. Our NT pulled very easily with the F150 and was a comfortable place to be for 15 nights out. The itinerary included Rockport, Bar Harbor and Eastport, Maine, and Brattleboro, Vermont. We stayed at Megunticook RV Resort...
