Black plastic ABS piping

Anyone familiar with the reason the builder uses the black abs instead of PVC? The abs seems to be more brittle, and prone to cracking.

From an online comparison of ABS vs PVC...

ABS is less durable and can deform under sun exposure.

ABS pipes are easier to install than PVC pipes, as PVC pipes need a purple primer before each joint is glued together, and the joints must then be held together for 5 to 10 seconds for the glue to take hold.

ABS is highly durable with high impact strength. PVC is less durable, as it is designed to be flexible and softer than usual plastics.

Another reason I’ve been told is ... ABS piping in drains used home building is considered to be the quieter of the two when draining water. Our S&B is plumbed with ABS drain lines
