From what I've read, the 3055rl has probably been the most popular Bighorn ever made.
And I agree. A great floorplan. Nice overall length.. under 36'.
Everything accessible with slides pulled in.
And it also gave people the option of a split bathroom.
So why has it been discontinued ...
Newbie question
Getting ready to buy a Bighorn 3055RL - What size Diesel do I need to pull it?
I am considering a 2011 Ford F-350 Lariat Super Cab 4X4 6.7L Power Stroke(R) V8 Turbo Diesel Engine - I am told that will easily handle the 3055? - I do live in Colorado and do mountain driving.
Thanks,
Sorry for the length of this post but I'm trying to get my modified brain waves around the most challenging upcoming mod for our 'Horn.
We absolutely love our BigHorn:D and will be keeping it for a long time so changes are in order. We don't like having to fire up the genny to use the fireplace...
Can someone give me an accurate outside length for the 2010 Bighorn 3055 5th wheel. Also how many steps into the 5th wheel. There is a little dotted line on the floor plan. Am wondering if it is like the Montana with the first step inside the 5th wheel. Am looking to update our current 5th...
I have a 09 3055 RL and I am about to winterize for the first time. Can someone help me with these questions?
1. Is there a water filter in this FW and if so where is it?
2. Is there any reason to remove the panel in the basement-behind the universal docking center when I winterize...
Have owned RV for one year and are now wanting to dry camp. Factory installed SHURflo Classic Pump 2.5 GPM. The water pump pulsates (with either hot or cold on) in the kitchen and outside shower. Bathroom sink, toilet and shower seem to work fine.
So far I have done the following:
1) Cleaned...
We spend 4 months in Florida each winter without moving the FW and my wife wants to hang a plant from a hook. The hook would be midway between the forward/lower basement and the pin box. As it is we have large pots all around the FW but she wants another "posie" in a hanging pot. I think we...
As my tires on my 3055 have shown much more tread wear on the left side than on the right I was wondering if it may be a weight distribution issue. For any of you 3055 owners that had your rig weighted at the ralley, I was wondering if it showed heavier on the leftside than the right. With the...
I would like to mount a stainless flag pole bracket to the side or hitch on my 3055. Of course I would like to put it where the installation won't compromise the hitch or the wall of the trailer.
Has anyone done this before and will mounting the bracket on the pin box cause a problem?
What is the best way to stabilize the fifth wheel when parking? it seems no matter what we do we get a lot of movement after unloading. we level it from side to side using small flat boards, Trex boards we have cut to fit under the wheels, usually maximum of two boards, the we level front to...
This is a bit long, but not as long as the grief it caused.
My wife came into the unit and found a "puddle" in the corner by the left bottom of the fridge, next to the carpet. Curious as she is, she thought that the heavy rain may have caused the water to be blown under the vent area. She...
We picked up our 2010 BH 3055 Monday. So far had to have the water heater bypass replumbed ( backwards from factory) -- now in Elkhart to have some of the graphics replaced ( full of bubbles )( have worked with vinyl and too many to squeeze out) --- the curb side slam door hinges broke the...
Well, I finally got tired of being hit in the butt by the basement door while doing my husbandly duties of hooking and unhooking. (Sure wish DW would help, but that is a different thread:rolleyes:)
I added a latch to hold the door in the open position. Used a 6" t-latch similar to the one for...
I have seen many different TV ideas for the basement but we came up with this entertainment center. It houses 22" TV, Home entertainment unit with DVD, CD and FM Tuner. Also connected Sony Playstation and I-Pod. Everything is mounted to the unit and is removable in one piece for winter storage.
We want to add a handgrip between kitchen and bedroom but do not know what is behind the 3/4" oak to the left of the mirrored closet doors. I have in mind a grab bar something like you might find in a shower.
Is there anything immediately behind the 3/4" oak that I might damage if I attach...
Our FW has 3 steps and we would like to get stabilizers for the bottom step. I am communicating with the stabilizer MFG and he would like to know: Is the triple step made by Lippert or Hickory Springs?
Wanting to purchase a set of Rotochok's for my coach that is 600 miles away.
Could someone measure the spacing between the 2 - 16" tires at their closet point so that I order the correct size.
Thanks for your help.
We are the proud new owners of a 3055 RL and one of the question we have is the following: when we open the port/left door on the basement it hits the handle on the propane storage door - scratching the finish.
What have you done to prevent this from happening?
We are in a high wind area and...
Despite a few small items (so far) we really like the 3055 RL.
1. Both sinks required some hand tightening to stop leaks.
2. We had the dealer cut down the bed frame top and then replaced the king sized bed with a queen. The base/particle board top is about 4" too wide so I will have to do...
We are seriously considering upgrading to this FW from an UltraLite.
We currently travel with 2 bikes on a rack on the back of the FW AND 2 14' kayaks on the roof of the truck on a Yakima roof rack with their GIZMO that supports the front of the kayaks.
Please provide any input on this FW vs...
We looked at a 3055 once. We now are ready to buy but, there are non in our area. My question is, with the slides in, are you able to open the refrigerator?
Fix for a vac that has little suction ....Look under first step..where the hose attaches to the connection..I removed first step and found that the connection with fittings that adapt to hose connection was not attached..the connectors that are used by Heartland will not work ..so they never...
Can anyone give me a number off of those lights? Or tell me their size? I'm thinking about doing a replacement of the current set...and replacing them with LEDs. I did it on my old Airstream and the difference of current draw between what was there and the replacements was unbelievable.
I'm...

This question has been asked before but I have not seen an answer to it. Are there low point drains on the 09 3055? I can only see one drain for the water tank, but no low point drains.
We just got our 3055 Big Horn back from the dealer after our first trip out identified a few problems. Some were noted before we left and I posted in a couple of Big Horn forums but decided to summarize here. One problem was the inability to get a satellite signal from the outside connection...
Has anyone self-installed an electric fireplace in a 3055? My floor plan has a designated spot as an optional equipment item. I have researched the plug-units (Dimplex DF5000) installed by Heartland at the factory.
Understanding the proposed retrofit/install is fairly straight forward; the...
I have found that my 2009 3055 pin box electrical connector box and frame support will hit my chevy 2500hd bed rails if i try a tight >75 degree turn. i would like to replace the pinbox with a 5th airborne or trailair shock mount pin box that is shorter. there are 2 sizes extended and standard...
