While we are on the subject of resources, a storm tracking map, so...

...here's another possibly-useful link for us who may be closer to the coast: https://stormpulse.com/ Ralph Update: I just realized that after signing in, you're also able to see storms risks throughout the US not just impending tropical storms and hurricanes. Quite interesting.

5th Wheel Cover, Yes or No for the Pacific Northwest?

Anyone have a 5th wheel cover? Reviews? Is it really necessary for the PacNorWest? It doesn't snow here, where it's parked it never gets direct sunlight. Just curious. We have wheel covers. Considering getting an RV cover as well. 2013 Heartland Big Country. Robin and Matt.

    ADCO RV Covers

Has anyone ordered a special ordered RV cover for their MPG from ADCO? I just talked to Paul (Adco) on the phone and he says that he does have the plans on hand for the MPG 181 and 183 and can make it for me. I am interested to hear from someone who has had one made and if it fits better than...

Southern "Cold" Weather and Full-Timing Issues

Hi all, OK, I'm in the military, full-timing in the Bighorn in the Southeast, and am looking to go back home (without the RV) for the holidays. Here's the problem. I'll only be gone for 5-8 days at a time, the weather will get below freezing (at night, at least, for a few hours), and I am...

    Trailer Cover

Does anyone out there know if there is a cover available yet for the Heartland MPG series of trailers? Since I will be picking my new 181 up this coming Tuesday afternoon, that thought has popped into my mind, especially since I will be storing my trailer in an RV storage facility (outside). I...

    Pocket door and weather stripping

Well this trailer gets cold here in Dallas. I noticed lots of cold air coming from between the pocket door and the walls. To resolve it I put some rubber weather stripping on the inside of the wall towards the door. No more cold air.:)

    Better cold weather protection

Well this morning it was 20 degrees outside and we had the furnace set to 63 degrees and it ran quite bit so I figured the basement was plenty warm to keep the water works flowing. I tried using the fresh water tank(we had the tank heaters on too), but at 6:00 a.m. the water pump would not suck...

Cold Weather Operation of Fresh Water Drain

We will be traveling from Michigan to Arizona in January. Even if we follow the warmer southern routes we will have a few nights below freezing. While we will be heating the BH 3055RL while traveling and at night, I am concerned about the fresh water drain valve hanging down below the...

    cold weather plumbing advice?

I'm going to be taking my 21FBS out for her maiden voyage next weekend. Temps should be in the mid 20's at night and 50's during the day. I will be boondocking and was hoping to have water. I realize this is right on the threshold of having freezing issues, even with the furnace running. My...

Questions about power cord standing up to winter weather

I have a seasonal campsite I keep my 5ver on. I left the power cord plugged in thinking we were going back one more time this season. But we're not. I turned the breakers on the post off, disconnected the negative battery cable and the camper is already winterized. My question is will the...

    Refer temp in HOT weather

The DW and I just started a two month stay in Uvalde TX, and the current weather is 104 for the foreseeable future. Our 4 door fridge is set at 5 but will only stay between 47 degrees in the morning and 58 degrees by late afternoon. We our very worried about losing food. Is this normal for the...

    Weather Alert radio

We finally found a wx radio with a selectable alert tone, so you don't leap out of your skin when it goes off. With it set on Low siren, it's a resonable volume. Found on e-bay last year: Midland WR-300 all hazards alert radio. It has lots of options, good menu, selectable alerts (you...

    Cold Weather Questions

First time Diesel owner, brought her home yesterday. Here in Pennsylvania, we still have some cold weather coming and I was wondering if there is any good recommendations. Should I use a fuel additive to keep the fuel from gelling? Anything to help the cold weather start ups? Any advice...

    first time in cold weather

Hi everyone. We have a 2009 3055 Bighorn with the winter package. We are heading south soon (Alberta to Arizona) and as this is our first winter trip we are anxious to learn how well the unit will perform in cold weather. Someone told us the unit can handle up to -15C. Is this true? Give us...

    Snow

I know it is not a big deal for you up in "snowland" but right now IT IS SNOWING IN HOUSTON. It is 28 degrees and snowing. It won't last for long or stick but it will cause a big problem here because we are not prepared for it. So if you are driving toward Houston from the east on I10 be careful.

2009 BC 3355RL Cold Weather Trip / Easy Winterization

Just returned from our last outing of the year in the mountains of Idaho near the Continental Divide. In 3 days the temperature never got above 29 F and the night time lows were in the teens. BC performed flawlessly including the undercarriage and slide mechanisms, which got iced up during...

    Severe Weather Information

Those of you who have been out of touch need to know about Gustav the Hurricane. Gustav is going to be in the Gulf of Mexico on Saturday. If you are staying at an RV park or staying in your RV and are south of I10 from Mobile to Houston you need to think about moving north. The storm at this...
