Is it a good idea to screen the water heater if u live on the left coast? Our summer trip includes Montana, and Alberta, Canada, WA and OR coasts down to wine country in Calistoga. I figure for east coasters this is necessary but am curious about it.

The reason we screen the water heater and heater vents is to keep the mud daubers from getting in there and making their nests. Other insects such as wasps, yellow jackets, bees, etc do the same. The screens help prevents that and if I am correct these types of insects inhabit the whole country.

We've been rving (not full timers yet) for over 5 years and have never had any problems with insects in the water heater area. Most of the time we use electricty with the heater but every now and then have had to use gas at state parks or areas where we have had to use 30 amp services. After reading all that everone has written maybe I should check out the screen cover. Thanks everyone.
